UPSC IFoS Prelims Eligibility 2026
To be eligible for the UPSC IFoS Prelims, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a specific discipline. They must also meet the age criteria and rule of the number of attempts. Here are the UPSC IFoS Prelims Eligibility 2026 requirements:

Age Limit
21 and 32 years as of August 1st.
Age relaxation is provided for certain categories such as SC/ST, OBC, defense personnel, ex-servicemen, ECOs/SSCOs, and PwBD
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects being Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or Engineering from a recognized university.
Number of Attempts
Candidates from the General Category are allowed a maximum of 6 attempts.
OBC candidates are allowed 9 attempts.
There is no limit on the number of attempts for SC/ST candidates.

Register by completing the UPSC One-time registration process. If you are an old candidate, then enter OTR credentials to log in.
Fill out the all modules of the application form by entering the required information like your educational qualifications and other relevant details.
Choose the exam center from the given list and upload the required documents.
Male candidates from UR/OBC/EWS candidates will be required to pay the application fee of INR 100 through net banking, credit card, or debit card.

UPSC IFoS Prelims Exam Pattern 2026
The UPSC IFoS Prelims exam pattern includes two objective-type papers, each consisting of multiple-choice questions. The total duration will be 4 hours, divided into two shifts: Paper 1 (General Studies) in the morning and Paper 2 (CSAT) in the afternoon. Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 33% in the CSAT for their GS Paper 1 score to be considered for Mains.
