The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has dismissed claims circulating on social media regarding an alleged leak of the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026 question paper. In an official statement, PIB clarified that the reports being shared online are false and urged candidates not to rely on unverified information.
The clarification comes after a user on twitter claimed that the UPSC Prelims 2026 question paper had been leaked before the examination. The government fact-checking agency has categorically labeled these claim as fake.
Taking to social media x, PIB Fact Check stated that multiple posts alleging a leak of the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026 question paper were misleading.
According to the official clarification, the claims currently being circulated online have no factual basis.
"This claim is Fake," PIB Fact Check stated while responding to the viral posts.
The agency advised students and the public to rely only on information released through official channels.
In its clarification, PIB highlighted the examination paper-setting process followed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The fact-check note stated that UPSC question papers are prepared by subject experts selected from different parts of the country. The process involves multiple layers of confidentiality and security to maintain the integrity of the examination.
The clarification was issued to address concerns among candidates appearing for one of India's most competitive recruitment examinations.
Along with the fact-check notice, PIB also referred to a clarification issued by the institute whose name was linked to the controversy online.
The institute denied allegations related to answer key manipulation and claims suggesting prior access to examination questions. It stated that the assertions circulating on social media were based on incorrect interpretations and unsupported assumptions.
The response was shared to counter speculation that had gained traction following the release of certain answer-key-related content online.
PIB has urged candidates, parents, and social media users not to forward unverified claims regarding the UPSC examination.
The agency emphasized that misinformation can create unnecessary panic and confusion among aspirants preparing for competitive examinations.
Students have been advised to verify information through official UPSC notifications and government-authorized communication channels before believing or sharing such content.
