Aditya belonged to the 2022 B.Tech batch, but a back in one subject delayed his graduation until 2023. After completing his degree, he started preparing for government examinations.
“2023 ke baad se ma'am phir main preparation karna start kar diya maine. To aur jaise hi preparation phase mein gaya to aisa lagne laga ki main engineering kar chuka hoon. Ab ghar walon se paise lunga to phir dikkat hongi.”
His parents were supportive and were ready to help with his preparation. However, Aditya wanted to manage his own expenses after already relying on them for his engineering education.
He eventually started teaching tuition classes and gradually built a schedule around both teaching and preparation.

Aditya initially started with one tuition through a friend's reference. As his students gave positive feedback, he received more offers and eventually handled five to six tuition classes.
“To pehle ek tuition mila to unko mera feedback achha tha jinhe main padhata tha aur dheere-dheere mere paas tuition ke bahut saare tuition ke offer aane lage. To ab jab is duration preparation ke duration mein to chhe tuition ho gaya tha ma'am.”
Teaching became an important part of his daily routine. He had to manage his own studies along with the responsibility of teaching his students.
“Aapko tuition bhi padhana hai. Khud bhi padhna hai. To iske liye jo tha poora aisa lagta tha ki mera poora schedule jo hai bilkul fixed hai.”
Aditya relied on PW resources for his technical preparation and followed the guidance given during his preparation. He also used PW books and revised his notes repeatedly.
“PW ki books bhi thi mere paas, usmein bhi padhta tha main.”
He explained that he did not regularly attend live classes because self-study suited his learning style better. Instead, he used notes and watched relevant videos at increased speed when he had doubts.
“Mujhe padhne ka habit zyada hai. To main chahta, main notes padh leta. Jahan doubt aata tha to us samay aapka video, matlab video maine poora dekha hai aapka, lekin 2x pe.”
Aditya also followed the revision strategy and mock-test guidance he received during preparation.
“Aap jo guide kiye, aapne bola 20 baar revise karo, same aap bole ye resource follow karo, same aapne bola mock test lagao. Maine mock test lagaya bahut jyada.”
Aditya preferred books for his non-technical preparation. He studied Environmental Science, General Science, Computer, History, and other subjects through dedicated resources.
“Environment ke liye Shankar IAS ki book aati hai, wo kiya aur General Science ke liye Arihant ki book aati hai Encyclopedia of General Science, wo kiya aur Computer ke liye Arihant ki book aati hai Knowledge of IT kuch naam karke maine wo kiya.”
He also studied NCERT books from Classes 6 to 12.
“Maine NCERT poora NCERT 6 se leke 12 tak NCERT maine padha, line by line.”
His strong non-technical preparation also came from his earlier interest in other government examinations.
Aditya carried his tablet while going to teach tuition classes. When his students were solving questions, he used those gaps to revise his own preparation instead of spending the time on distractions.
“To main tablet carry karta tha, tablet maine liya tha tuition padha ke kuch saving se maine tablet le liya tha. To wo bahut helpful tha mere liye.”
He used even short gaps during tuition hours for study.
“To wo unko kuch bachche ko sawaal de diye, bachchon ko koi doubt aayega to wo unse contact karenge. Us duration mein main matlab ek-ek minute ko utilize karne mein hi bhala hai.”
This helped him continue studying even with a packed daily schedule.
Aditya's daily routine included non-technical study in the morning, technical lectures later in the day, tuition classes, and revision. He also used a fixed 55-minute power nap to maintain his efficiency.
“11:15 ke baad uthne ke baad phir chai pi lete the. Ek baar 11 baje, 11:15 mein. Chai peene ke baad aadha ghanta gaana sunke tahalte rehte the balcony mein idhar-udhar, kya tahle taki mind fresh ho gaya.”
He then resumed his preparation and used a power nap before continuing with technical studies.
“1:00 baje ke baad phir main 55 minute pakka alarm laga ke 55 minute mein... phir uth jata tha.”
This routine helped him continue studying for long hours without allowing fatigue to completely affect his preparation.
Aditya had already cleared CBT 1 in an earlier RRB JE attempt, but he could not appear for the examination because he reached the exam centre late after his train was delayed.
“Pichhle saal bhi maine CBT 1 nikala RRB JE 2024 mein bhi CBT 1 ke liye clear tha. 78 ke marks ke kareeb tha. But train miss hua tha.”
The incident became one of the difficult phases of his preparation. He also faced setbacks in other examinations, but continued preparing.
“Failier aisa nahi bahut jyada fail hua, bahut jyada hua.”
Instead of allowing these experiences to stop his preparation, he continued working towards a government engineering job.
For technical subjects, Aditya mainly relied on his notes and PYQs rather than using a large number of additional books.
“Nahi ma'am, notes padha aur YCT ka jo PYQ aaya tha AE JE ka aur jo naya capsule wala aaya tha bas wahi kiya ma'am.”
He also practised a large number of questions during his overall preparation. Regular question practice helped him improve his ability to quickly understand what a question was asking and identify the required approach.
“Aaj 300 question laga liya, arre kam hai. Kal maybe jyada lagaye. Aaj 10 question galti ho gaya. Agli baar ho sakta hai do baar aur padhe.”
This approach helped him build speed and accuracy for the RRB JE examination.
One of the strongest parts of Aditya's preparation was his consistency. He followed his routine for 92 days without taking a single day off from tuition or preparation.
“Aur maine jo bola na wo routine ma'am, maine wo routine 92 din tak follow kiya hai. 92 days without any leave.”
Even when he fell ill, he continued his routine.
“Ek bhi chhutti nahi. Us beech mein beemar pada. Mujhe bukhar bhi hua. Lekin main dawaai kha ke ORS pee ke aise-aise kaam chalata raha.”
His students also supported him throughout this period, and he continued teaching them regularly.
“Mere student log bhi pareshaan hoti thi ki sir 30-30 din padha pa rahe hain. Consistency aisa tha. Aap 30 ke 30 din 30 din ke 30 din mein jaata tha.”
Mock tests were an important part of Aditya's preparation. He followed the recommended practice and worked towards improving his score.
“Aap bole the ki CBT 1 mein 80 plus lao to maine 87 laya. Aapne bola CBT 2 mein 120 lao, maine 121 laya.”
During CBT 2, he completed the paper in around 1 hour and 10–15 minutes and used the remaining time to review his answers.
“Mera 1 ghanta 10, 1 ghanta 15 minute mein hi paper khatam ho gaya tha. Maine 45 minute phir question revise kiye.”
He also used option elimination when he found questions where he could identify incorrect choices.
Aditya scored 87 marks in RRB JE CBT 1, qualifying for all posts. He then scored 117 marks in CBT 2 Cut off, with a merit index of 858.
His preparation helped him maintain a strong performance despite changes in the paper and questions being dropped during the examination.
“Aapne jo bola tha ki CBT 1 mein 80 plus lao to maine 87 laya. Aapne bola CBT 2 mein 120 lao, maine 121 laya.”
For Aditya, the RRB JE Result represented the outcome of a long preparation journey that included teaching, self-study, previous setbacks, and disciplined revision.
Aditya believes aspirants should focus on using their available resources effectively instead of constantly looking for something new. He compared preparation with efficiency and advised students to reduce unnecessary wastage of time.
“Jitna kam resources aap input lein aur jitna jyada output ka... 100% efficient hona koi nahi ho sakta. To jitna jyada aap wastage kam karein apne time ka 24 hours ka, utna efficiency aapka badh jayega.”
He also emphasised being satisfied with the resources already available and focusing on improving through them.
“Jo praapt hai wahi paryaapt hai.”
For future RRB JE aspirants, he highlighted the importance of presence of mind and option elimination.
“RRB JE is all about presence of mind. Hum itna practice kar lo na ki aap question dekh ke uske option ko eliminate kar pao.”
His final message was simple: consistent and focused preparation matters more than constantly searching for new resources.
“Aur jo bhi kare wo dil se kare, wo dhyan se kare.”
Aditya's journey from completing B.Tech with a delayed graduation to teaching multiple tuition classes and finally securing selection in RRB JE 2025 shows how consistent effort can help a candidate recover from setbacks and continue working towards a government engineering career.
