Key Change for Low Vision Candidates

One notable change is the inclusion of JE Telecom under the Department of Telecommunications for VH or Low Vision candidates.

The post is also identified as suitable for specified locomotor disabilities and Multiple Disabilities involving the listed categories.

Candidates should not assume that the suitability of one post applies to another. The notification specifies disability suitability separately for different posts.

What Does the SSC JE 2026 PwBD Change Mean for You?

If you are applying under the PwBD category, the expanded suitability list gives you additional posts to consider. However, eligibility depends on the disability category recognised for the particular post.

Before choosing your preferences, check:

  • Whether your disability category is suitable for the post.

  • Whether your disability certificate mentions the applicable disability sub-category.

  • Whether you meet the educational and other eligibility conditions.

  • Whether the post has any specified functional, physical or medical requirements.

  • Whether you need examination support such as a scribe or assistive technology.

A PwBD candidate selected on their own merit can also be considered against an unreserved vacancy if the post is identified as suitable for the relevant disability category, subject to the applicable rules.

SSC JE 2026 PwBD Eligibility and Disability Certificate

If you are applying under the PwBD category, you need to select the appropriate disability category in the application form according to your disability certificate.

The application categories include:

  • VH

  • OH

  • HH

  • PwBD-Others

You should select the category carefully because changes to the selected PwBD category are not allowed later.

PwBD Certificate Requirements

Your disability certificate should mention the relevant disability sub-category, such as OA, OL, BL, Dw, MI or SLD, wherever applicable.

You must produce the required certificate during Document Verification or whenever it is requested by the Commission. Failure to provide the required certificate may result in cancellation of candidature.

SSC JE 2026 Scribe and Assistive Device Provisions

SSC JE 2026 also provides provisions related to scribes, technology and assistive devices for eligible PwBD candidates.

Candidates with Low Vision or Cerebral Palsy may be eligible for these facilities subject to the conditions specified in the notification. If you require a scribe, technology or an assistive device during the examination, you need to follow the prescribed procedure while filling out the online application and provide the required certificate.

You should check the applicable conditions carefully before submitting your application, particularly if you require examination assistance.

What Should You Check Before Applying for SSC JE 2026?

Before submitting the SSC JE 2026 application under the PwBD category, check the following:

  1. PwBD category: Make sure the category selected in the application matches your disability certificate.

  2. Post suitability: Check whether your disability category is suitable for the post you want to select.

  3. Certificate: Keep the required disability certificate ready for Document Verification.

  4. Eligibility: Verify the educational and other eligibility conditions for your preferred post.

  5. Functional requirements: Check the specified functional or medical requirements, wherever applicable.

  6. Examination assistance: If you need a scribe, technology or an assistive device, check the prescribed requirements before completing the application.

The SSC JE 2026 PwBD suitability list provides post-specific details, so you should not rely only on the broad PwBD category. Check the suitability of your disability category for each preferred post before finalising your application.
