The IBPS AFO Eligibility Criteria 2026 specifies the minimum requirements that candidates must fulfil to apply for the Agricultural Field Officer (AFO) recruitment process. These include nationality, age limit, educational qualification, and other conditions prescribed by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). 

As per the official IBPS Calendar, the online application process is scheduled from 1 July to 21 July 2026, and you must satisfy the prescribed eligibility criteria before registering. Merely qualifying in the examination or receiving provisional allotment does not guarantee appointment, as the participating bank will verify all eligibility documents during the recruitment process.

IBPS AFO Nationality Criteria 2026

A candidate must satisfy any one of the following nationality conditions:

• Citizen of India; or

• Subject of Nepal; or

• Subject of Bhutan; or

• Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; or

• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note: Candidates belonging to categories other than Indian citizens must possess a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India.

IBPS AFO Age Limit 2026

As per the official notification, candidates must fulfil the following age criteria as on 1 July 2026.

IBPS AFO Age Relaxation 2026

The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved categories as per the Government of India guidelines.

Important Points Regarding Age Relaxation

• SC/ST/OBC candidates who also belong to eligible Ex-servicemen or PwBD categories can avail cumulative age relaxation wherever applicable.

• The maximum age limit (30 years) applies to General and EWS candidates.

• Candidates claiming age relaxation must produce valid supporting certificates during document verification/interview.

• OBC candidates must possess a valid Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate issued in the prescribed format.

• EWS candidates must submit a valid Income & Asset Certificate for the applicable financial year.

IBPS AFO Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates applying for the post of Agricultural Field Officer (Scale I) must possess a four-year degree in any of the following disciplines:

• Agriculture

• Horticulture

• Animal Husbandry

• Veterinary Science

• Dairy Science

• Fishery Science

• Pisciculture

• Agri-Marketing and Cooperation

• Cooperation and Banking

• Agro-Forestry

• Forestry

• Agricultural Biotechnology

• Food Science

• Agriculture Business Management

• Food Technology

• Dairy Technology

• Agricultural Engineering

• Sericulture

The qualification must be obtained from a university or institution recognized by the Government of India.

Candidates should keep the following points in mind before applying:

• All eligibility conditions must be fulfilled on the dates specified in the official notification.

• Original documents supporting nationality, age, educational qualification, and category must be produced during document verification/interview.

• Changes in category or eligibility details are not permitted after the application correction window closes.

• Provisional allotment through IBPS does not guarantee appointment. The final decision regarding eligibility rests with the participating bank.

• Candidates should carefully verify all information before submitting the online application form.

• Candidates claiming reservation under the PwBD category must produce valid disability certificates in the prescribed format during document verification.
