AIEED 2026 Marking Scheme

The AIEED 2026 exam pattern uses a total of 500 marks. The written tests, GAT and CAT, account for 300 marks combined. The Video, Portfolio, and Personal Interaction round is worth 200 marks. 

The exam questions appear in both Hindi and English for offline mode. Online test takers must answer in English. There is no negative marking in the AIEED exam pattern. Incorrect answers only lose their assigned marks. No extra deductions happen for wrong responses.

Section-Wise AIEED Exam Pattern 2026

The AIEED exam has three distinct stages. Each stage evaluates different skills crucial for design education. Candidates must pass the earlier stages to move to later ones.

AIEED Exam Pattern 2026 for GAT

The General Ability Test (GAT) is the first stage. It is an online computer-based test. Candidates must submit videos or portfolios seven days before the exam.

  • Marks Allocated: 100 marks.
  • Number of Questions: 60 questions.
  • Time Allocated: 2 hours.
  • Topics Covered: Concept knowledge, logical reasoning, global awareness, design sensitivity, and design-related issues.
  • Available Time Slots: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

AIEED Exam Pattern 2026 for CAT 

The Creative Ability Test (CAT) is the second stage. It is for candidates who pass the GAT. This online test usually happens within three days of the GAT.

  • Marks Allocated: 200 marks (4 marks per question).
  • Number of Questions: 50 questions.
  • Time Allocated: 3 hours.
  • Topics Covered: Creative problem-solving, design principles, design thinking, lateral thinking, written and visual articulation skills.
  • Available Time Slots: 10 AM to 1 PM, 2 PM to 5 PM, 6 PM to 9 PM.

Video, Portfolio, and Personal Interaction

This is the final round for qualifying candidates. It takes place virtually via Skype.

  • Total Duration: 30 minutes.

  • Marks Allocated: 200 marks.

  • Evaluation Focus: General articulation skills, composure, depth of thought, focus, and the range of work in the portfolio.
