CEED 2026 Exam Pattern Overview

The CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by IIT Bombay for admissions to Master of Design (M.Des) programs. The CEED 2026 exam consists of two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A is a computer-based test with objective-type questions, while Part B is a written exam that assesses design, drawing, and writing skills through subjective questions. Candidates must attempt questions from both parts. The language of the exam is English.

CEED 2026 Exam Pattern for Part A

CEED 2026 Part A is a computer-based test consisting of three types of objective questions: Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). This section evaluates visual and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language, observation, and design sensitivity. The total duration for Part A is 1 hour. 

Marking Scheme for Part A:

• NAT: Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks, with no negative marking.
• MSQ: Partial marking is applicable; there is a negative marking of -1 for each wrong answer.
• MCQ: Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks, and there is a negative marking of -0.5 for each incorrect answer.

CEED 2026 Exam Pattern for Part B

CEED 2026 Part B is a pen-and-paper-based test designed to evaluate design, drawing, and writing skills. This section includes five mandatory questions that assess sketching, creativity, form sensitivity, visual sensitivity, and problem identification skills. The questions are displayed on the computer screen, and answers must be written or drawn in the provided answer booklets. The duration for Part B is 2 hours. 

Marking Scheme for Part B: 

• Each question is worth 20 marks.
• Partial marking is applicable for each question.
• There is no negative marking in Part B.
