What is NIFT Entrance Exam?

NIFT, administered by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), is an annual national-level design entrance examination. The exam consists of two main components:
  1. Written Exams - Comprising the GAT and CAT. While the GAT is mandatory for all programs, only B.Des and M.Des candidates are required to take the CAT.
  2. Situation Test/ Personal Interview - B.Des candidates shortlisted will undertake the Situation Test, while PG candidates will face a Personal Interview. The B.F.Tech program differs as admission is solely based on GAT scores.
The NIFT 2024 FINAL score for other programs will be calculated by considering the written exams and Situation Test/ Personal Interview. NIFT scores or merit ranks are pivotal for admission to design courses in the participating institutes, presently numbering 18. These courses include B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M. Admission criteria for these programs are based on NIFT merit rank. In total, there are 5,289 seats available across the mentioned programs.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology will release the NIFT entrance exam B.F.Tech answer key 2025 after the commencement of the exam. It will be uploaded on the NIFT NTA admission portal. NIFT Entrance Exam BFTech 2025 Eligibility Criteria

B.Des Age The candidate should be less than 24 years as of 1st August of the admission year. Relaxation: 5 year relaxation in the upper age limit for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
Academic Eligibility 10+2 exam from any recognized institute. ,   Cleared Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. ,   Obtained a 3 or 4 year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education. ,   Passed any Public School/ Board/ University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to a 10+2 system. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ SriLanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate.
B.F.Tech Age Limit Maximum age should be less than 24 years as of 1st August of the year of admission. ,  The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for SC/ST/ PWD categories
Academic Qualification The candidate must have passed the 10+2 exam. ,   A passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system. ,   General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/SriLanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).

NIFT Entrance Exam BFTech 2025 Application Form

The application is common for the B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses. The candidate can select their program of study when filling out the form. The last date to fill out the NIFT application form is 6th January 2025. Here's the step-wise process to apply for NIFT Entrance Exam BFTech 2025.

The NIFT Entrance Exam BFTech 2025 results will be released by NTA after the exam is over. The result will be released online at the NTA NIFT admission portal. NIFT Entrance Exam BFTech 2025 Exam Pattern

The NIFT entrance exam consists of two stages. Initially, candidates participate in a written exam, and if selected, they proceed to a Situation Test/Personal Interview. The written exams include the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT). While GAT is compulsory for all courses, CAT is only required for B.Des and M.Des candidates. The NIFT BFTech exam pattern differs slightly from the B.Des test in terms of exam format. The GAT is the only test for the B.F.tech admissions and consists of 150 questions separated into GAT-A and GAT-B.
