The UCEED exam pattern 2026 consists of a single question paper divided into two mandatory parts: Part A and Part B, with a total duration of three hours and a maximum of 300 marks. Part A is a computer-based test lasting two hours, featuring three sections- Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)-and carries 200 marks. Part B is a one-hour, pen-and-paper section that tests drawing and design aptitude skills through two questions, accounting for 100 marks. The exam is conducted in English, and both parts must be attempted to qualify for admission to undergraduate design programs at IITs. Revised UCEED Exam Pattern 

The UCEED 2025 exam pattern has been revised by IIT Bombay. As per the revised exam pattern, there is only one question paper of a 3-hour duration. The questions are entirely in the English language medium. The questions are distributed between two Parts, namely Part A and Part B. It is compulsory to attempt both parts to clear the UCEED prelims exam. The changes implemented in the UCEED 2025 exam pattern are as follows. 

UCEED Exam Pattern 2026 Marking Scheme

The UCEED 2026 exam gives details of the precise marking scheme for Part A (computer-based, 200 marks) and Part B (pen-and-paper, 100 marks) of the exam. Part A consists of Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), each with distinct marking and negative marking rules. Part B includes two questions evaluating drawing and design aptitude, with no negative marking. The overall marking scheme for UCEED 2026 is given in the following table.  

UCEED Exam Pattern 2026 for Part A

Part A of the UCEED 2026 exam is a computer-based section comprising 57 questions across three formats: Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), with a total of 200 marks allotted. The important pointers related to the marking scheme for Part A are as follows. 

• Section 1: Numerical Answer Type (NAT): There will be 14 questions asked, with 4 marks awarded to each question. There will be no negative marking. No choices will be given to answer the questions. Candidates have to enter a number through the virtual keyboard as the answer to each question. 
• Section 2: Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): There will be a total of 15 questions in this section. Out of the four options given, the MSQs can have one or more than one correct answers. Marks will be awarded as per the following guidelines. 

1. Full Marks: Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for each correct answer if all the correct answers/answer are (is) chosen and none of the incorrect options are selected.  
2. Partial Marks: If only three options are chosen and none of the incorrect options are chosen, then in that case, +3 marks will be awarded, if all four options are correct. 
3. Partila Marks: In case three or more options are correct, and candidates have chosen only two correct options, and both are correct, then they will be given +2 marks. 
4. Partial Marks: If candidates have chosen only one correct option out of two or more correct options, then +1 will be given to them. 
5. Zero Marks: If the questions remain unanswered, no marks will be allotted. 
6. Negative Marks: In case of any incorrect answer, a -1 mark will be deducted in all cases. 

• Section 3: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): There will be 28 total questions. Each correct answer will be awarded +3 marks, and 0.71 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. Each question will consist of 4 multiple-choice answers, out of which only one will be the correct answer. 

UCEED Exam Pattern 2026 for Part B

Part B of the UCEED 2026 exam will be a pen-and-paper section designed to assess candidates' drawing and design aptitude skills. This section consists of two questions: one focused on sketching and the other on design aptitude, with each question carrying 50 marks, making a total of 100 marks for Part B. Candidates must give answers either Answers must be drawn or written in the answer booklet provided, and the evaluation is subjective. There is no negative marking in Part B, allowing candidates to attempt both questions without the risk of losing marks for incorrect or incomplete responses. 

UCEED Exam 2026 Review & Retotalling

The UCEED 2026 exam follows a standard evaluation policy for both its computer-based and pen-and-paper sections. Part A is entirely computer-evaluated, while Part B is manually assessed by expert examiners based on specific criteria outlined in each question. There is no provision for review, re-evaluation, or re-totalling of marks in either Part A or Part B, and requests for such processes will not be entertained under any circumstances.
