GATE 2027 Registration: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has officially announced the schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. As per the information brochure, the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal will open for registrations on 14 August 2026.
Candidates interested in MTech, ME, PhD admissions and PSU recruitment through GATE scores can submit their applications online through the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The last date to apply without a late fee is 21 September 2026, while applications with a late fee can be submitted till 30 September 2026.
The GATE 2027 examination will be conducted across three weekends in February 2027, while the results are scheduled to be announced on 19 March 2027.

The examination will be held in multiple sessions across various exam centres in India.
The eligibility criteria for GATE continue to allow candidates from diverse academic backgrounds to appear for the examination.
Candidates who are:
Currently studying in the third year or higher of an undergraduate programme; or
Have already completed a government-recognised degree programme
are eligible to apply for GATE 2027.

One of the major features of GATE eligibility is that students do not need to wait until their final year.
Candidates currently pursuing the third year or higher of their undergraduate programmes are eligible to appear for GATE 2027. This provides students with an early opportunity to secure valid GATE scores for postgraduate admissions and PSU recruitment.

BE/BTech/BPharm students in third year or above
BArch, Naval Architecture and Planning students
BSc (Research)/BS students
PharmD candidates
MBBS, BDS and BVSc students in higher semesters
MSc, MA and MCA students
Integrated MTech and Dual Degree students
Integrated MSc and BS-MS students
BSc, BA and BCom graduates
Agriculture, Forestry and Horticulture students
Candidates possessing recognised professional qualifications such as AMIE
Candidates pursuing higher qualifications than the minimum prescribed degree are also eligible to appear.
The entire application process will be conducted through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).
Candidates must create an account on the GOAPS portal. Indian applicants may need to register through DigiLocker for easier verification.

Candidates need to upload scanned copies of:
Passport-size photograph
Signature
Valid photo ID
Category certificate (if applicable)
PwD/Dyslexia certificate (if applicable)
Pay the prescribed application fee through online modes such as internet banking, debit card, credit card, wallet or UPI.

Candidates must carry the same original ID to the examination centre. Failure to produce the original document may result in denial of entry.

IIT Madras has clarified that there will be no international examination centres for GATE 2027.
Foreign nationals and Indian candidates residing abroad who wish to appear for GATE will have to travel to India to take the examination.
