The first seven post codes are for Junior Research Fellows. The required qualifications include M.E./M.Tech. in disciplines such as Semiconductor Technology, Quantum, Micro/Nano Electronics, RF & Microwave, Electronics & Communication, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Geo-informatics, Remote Sensing and GIS, depending on the post.
Post Code 03 also accepts B.E./B.Tech. in Engineering Physics or M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, Photonics, Optoelectronics, Optics, Material Science, Nanotechnology, Solid State Physics or related disciplines.

For JRF posts from Post Code 01 to 07, candidates must additionally have qualified CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship, GATE, or an eligible national-level examination conducted by specified Central Government departments/agencies/institutions. The qualification result or scorecard must be valid on September 30, 2026.
Where M.E./M.Tech. is prescribed, candidates should have secured at least 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale.
Where M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. is prescribed, candidates should have secured at least 65% aggregate marks or 6.84 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale.

Age relaxation is applicable according to Government of India rules. The notification provides 5 years' relaxation for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates, along with applicable relaxation for eligible categories such as serving Central Government employees, PwBD candidates and ex-servicemen.
