TIFR Full Form: The full form of TIFR is Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. It is an autonomous institution of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, and was set up in 2002. The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is often known as TIFR Mumbai.

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, which is the full form of TIFR Mumbai, comprises the School of Mathematics, the Natural Sciences Faculty (Departments of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science, High Energy Physics, Nuclear and Atomic Physics, Theoretical Physics, Chemical Sciences and Biological Sciences), and the School of Computer Science and Technology.

The full form of TIFR is Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. In 2002, TIFR Mumbai became accredited as a university. TIFR provides degrees to learners in six disciplines, which are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Science Education, and Computer Science. TIFR History Overview

TIFR, or the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, came into existence on June 1, 1945. TIFR was established with the support of J.R.D. Tata, the chairman of the Tata Group, and the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. The first director of TIFR was Homi Jehangir Bhabha, also known as an Indian physicist.

  • TIFR was originally headquartered on the campus of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru at the Cosmic Ray Research Unit. In the October month of the same academic year, it relocated to Bombay, which is now Mumbai.
  • In January 1962, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru inaugurated the institute's new 15-acre campus in Navy Nagar, Bombay. TIFR is a national center of the Government of India under the Department of Atomic Energy. It is also a university that grants master's and doctoral degrees.

  • To shortlist the eligible applicants, TIFR also conducts online entrance examinations, in which participants from across the nation can appear. After qualifying the online exam, selected applicants will have to go through an interview.
  • Applicants having a valid GATE exam scorecard in the relevant subject, on the other hand, will be excluded from the TIFR Entrance Exam. If an applicant submits both the GATE score and the entrance exam, the highest of the two results will be considered.
