Maharashtra Judiciary Exam Pattern 2024 Overview

The Maharashtra Judiciary Exam is conducted by the Maharashtra Public  Service Commission for the post of Civil Judge in the state. The selection process includes three phases namely, Preliminary, Main, and Interview. The exam pattern differs for each stage. Candidates have to qualify for each phase to get the final selection. The Preliminary Examination is an objective test, whereas the Main Examination is completely descriptive. The marks in the main and the interview rounds are evaluated together for the final selection, whereas the prelims screens candidates for the mains exam. Candidates must follow the exam pattern to get acquainted with the questions asked in the exam.

The initial phase of the Maharashtra Judiciary selection process is the Preliminary Exam. It is an objective test consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions based on the Constitution of India, Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Transfer of Property Act, etc. The exam is conducted only in English medium and the time duration for the exam is 2 hours. The candidates will be awarded 1 mark for every correct answer, while 0.25 marks are deducted for each incorrect answer.

The Maharashtra Judiciary Prelims Exam is a completely subjective paper comprising questions based on the Specific Relief Act, Law of Contract, Sale of Goods Act, Partnership Act, etc. There are two papers namely, Paper 1 and Paper 2 and both are descriptive. The exam is conducted in both English and Marathi medium. The main exam also includes essay writing questions focused around current legal topics.

The interview exam pattern includes an assessment of various factors such as character, personality, general knowledge, and suitability for the judge position.
