What to do After Publication of CLAT 2025 Merit List?
Once the CLAT merit list 2025 is announced, candidates have to complete their admission process to secure their CLAT seat. The following are the major steps that have to be completed after the publication of CLAT merit list 2025.
Candidates must decide among freeze, float, or exit options after publishing the merit list.
Candidates who are satisfied with the allotted seat or have given the first preference in their NLU list are required to select the “Freeze” option. This will lock your current seat. For seat confirmation, you have to pay Rs 2000 as a confirmation fee. Such candidates will not be considered for further rounds of CLAT counselling.
Candidates who did not get their first preference for NLU can select the “Float” option. By choosing this option, candidates accept the seat allotted to them by paying Rs 2000 as a confirmation fee, but keep themselves open for a higher preference seat if it becomes available in the next rounds. This improves the seat allotment preferences of the candidates without losing their current seats.
Candidates can also choose the “Exit” option if they do not want to participate in the CLAT counselling process. Such candidates will not be considered for admission.
Candidates who have been allotted seats have to complete their admission process. They have to pay the admission fee and process their documents at the university. The confirmation fee of Rs 2000 will be adjusted against the total university fee.
CLAT 2025 Cutoff for First Round
The CLAT 2025 cutoff for the first round is the minimum score or rank required for candidates to secure admission to the top National Law Universities (NLUs) after the initial seat allotment. After the announcement of the CLAT first merit list 2025, the Consortium will also provide the cutoff marks. The cutoffs vary by category and institution, reflecting factors like exam difficulty and seat availability.
