CLAT Seats 2025: The Consortium of National Law Universities has published the CLAT seat matrix 2025 on the official website. CLAT seats 2025 defines the total number of seats available in each NLU and domicile reservation under various UG law programs. The CLAT admissions are based on the availability of the seats and the reservation policies of the NLUs. A total of 24 National Law Universities (NLUs) and more than 60 law colleges accept the CLAT 2025 scorecards for admission. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) will be conducted for admission to 3,711 5-year LLB seats and 1,519 seats for study in LLM courses.

Total Seats in CLAT 2025 - Overview

The CLAT 2025 entrance exam will provide admission to various UG and PG law programs at different NLUs and law colleges. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is scheduled for 1st December 2024. The application form was opened from 15th July 2025 til 15th October 2024. Candidates must read the CLAT eligibility criteria before filling out the application form.

CLAT 2025 Seats

The CLAT 2025 seat allotment is based on the merit rank obtained by the candidates in the CLAT 2025 entrance exam, the availability of seats, and the number of applicants. The admission is done through a centralized counseling process. Before selecting colleges in the counseling process, candidates must check out the domicile reservation of each NLU and accordingly choose NLUs.

CLAT 2025 Seat Allotment

The CLAT 2025 seat allotment is done through an organized counseling process. The seat allotment is done based on the availability of CLAT 2025 seats, marks obtained in the CLAT entrance exam, and the total number of applicants. The consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will invite five times more candidates than the CLAT 2025 available seats. The counseling will take place in five rounds. Once the counseling process is completed, the vacant seats will be filled by the colleges individually. Candidates will be allotted seats according to their preference list.

Steps to Download CLAT 2025 Seat Allotment List

To download the CLAT 2025 Seat Allotment List, candidates can follow the given steps.
  • Refer to the official website of the Consortium of NLUs at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
  • Click on CLAT 2025 link.
  • Select the "CLAT 2025 Allotment List" option for the desired round.
  • The CLAT 2025 seat allotment PDF will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download the PDF and check out the seat allotment.

What after Publication of the CLAT 2025 Allotment List?

The CLAT Seat allotment 2025 list is provisional. To secure final admission, candidates are required to complete the requisite admission formalities. The shortlisted candidates have the option to either "freeze", "float", or "exit" in each counseling round. To complete the document verification process, candidates have to upload a scanned copy of the required documents and pay the prescribed NLU fee. The details are mentioned below.

  • Freeze
If the candidates are satisfied with their allotted seat or have got a seat in their preferred NLU, they can select the freeze option to confirm their seat in the allotted NLU. In such cases, candidates are required to pay the confirmation fee of INR 20,000/- . This confirmation fee will be adjusted against the university fee during the time of admission. Once the candidates have selected the freeze option and paid the confirmation fee, they will not be considered for further rounds of CLAT 2025 seat allotment.
  • Float
Candidates can select the float option if they have not got the seat in their preferred NLU or unsatisfied with the allotted seat. By selecting the float option, candidates can keep the open possibility of getting the preferred NLU seat in the subsequent rounds of counseling. The float option is available till the fourth round of counseling. Candidates have to pay the confirmation fee of INR 20,000/- which will be adjusted against the university fee during the admission process.
  • Exit
At any time during the counseling process, candidates can choose the exit option. If the candidates exit the CLAT counseling process, after exercising the freeze and float options, then the allotted NLU seat will be reallocated to another candidate. The confirmation fee will be forfeited.
