CLAT Seats 2026: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLU) will release the intake of CLAT seats 2026 on the official website at www.consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates can refer to the official brochure for detailed information on CLAT seats 2026. Based on the candidate’s performance in the CLAT entrance exam 2026 and college preferences, seats will be allotted. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted for admission to around 4,092 seats in the 5-year LLB programs and 1,599 seats in LLM courses.
The total CLAT 2026 seats include seats reserved under NRI/Foreign National (FN) and supernumerary quotas. Candidates must note that the supernumerary seats for various categories, as well as those for NRI/Foreign Nationals, are offered separately by individual NLUs and are not part of the centralized CLAT admission process. This means candidates applying under these quotas have a different admission route than the regular CLAT seat allocation.
CLAT 2026 will be conducted on 7 December 2025. The CLAT application process 2026 commenced from 1 August 2025. Knowing about the CLAT seats 2026 will help candidates to plan their admission and choose the most suitable NLU during the counselling process. There have been some changes in the CLAT seat intake 2026.
NLU Jodhpur has increased its seat capacity. 26 National Law Universities and over 60 other law schools will be accepting CLAT 2026 scores for admissions. Here is an overview of CLAT seats 2026 divided among various categories.

CLAT reservation criteria are strictly followed by all CLAT participating NLUs. The CLAT 2026 reservation criteria are aligned with government regulations and are designed to provide equal opportunities to underrepresented groups in the CLAT 2026 admission process.
Most National Law Universities (NLUs) reserve a certain number of CLAT seats for the state domicile quota. All NLUs have a mandatory reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates. CLAT reservation policies can differ from one law school to another, depending on various categories such as SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and others.
When applying under the CLAT 2026 reservation categories, candidates are required to submit the following essential documents to support their claim. These documents help verify eligibility for reserved CLAT seats 2026.
The Consortium will conduct the CLAT 2026 seat allotment through a centralized counselling process. The consortium will invite about five times the number of candidates as the available seats for both UG and PG courses. CLAT seats will be allotted based on candidates' merit ranks and preferences across five rounds of counselling. Individual NLUs will fill vacant seats according to their criteria after the completion of the CLAT counseling process.
