TS LAWCET Syllabus 2025

TS LAWCET Syllabus 2025: Osmania University has released the official TS LAWCET Syllabus 2025 on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE). The official syllabus was announced along with the TS LAWCET admission notification. The syllabus for the 3-year and 5-year LLB courses includes the same subjects and sectional distribution. However, the only difference is the difficulty level of the question paper. While the difficulty level of the 5-year LLB courses will be of Intermediate level/10+2, the 3-year LLB will be of Degree Level. The syllabus covers General Knowledge and Mental Ability, Current Affairs, and Aptitude for the Study of Law. 

TS LAWCET 2025 exam will be conducted in online mode on 6th June 2025. Having a thorough understanding of the topics and subjects included in the syllabus helps candidates to prepare in a focused and strategic manner.

TS LAWCET Syllabus 2025 Overview

The TS LAWCET 2025 syllabus consists of General Knowledge and Mental Ability, Current Affairs, and Aptitude for the Study of Law. The exam consists of 120 objective-type questions, with the legal aptitude section carrying the highest weightage, accounting for 50% of the total questions. General Knowledge and Current Affairs each contribute 25% of the questions, focusing on awareness of national and international events, logical reasoning, and basic legal concepts.

The syllabus is designed to evaluate both the candidate’s awareness of current events and their foundational understanding of law and reasoning skills.

The TS LAWCET 2025 syllabus is categorized into three main sections. Each section is designed to evaluate specific skills and knowledge areas relevant to law aspirants. 1. General Knowledge

The General Knowledge section in the TS LAWCET syllabus is designed to assess a candidate’s awareness of important historical, geographical, political, economic, and scientific events and facts, both from India and around the world. This section evaluates how well candidates are informed about major events, prominent personalities, and significant developments across various domains.

Mental Ability

The Mental Ability section in the TS LAWCET syllabus is designed to assess a candidate’s logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The important topics in this section are as follows. 

  • Logical Reasoning (identifying patterns, drawing inferences, solving logical problems)
  • Analytical Reasoning (analyzing information, identifying relationships, drawing conclusions)
  • Critical Reasoning (evaluating arguments, identifying biases, forming judgments)
  • Data Interpretation (interpreting data from tables, charts, and graphs)
  • Data Sufficiency (analyzing if the given data is sufficient to answer questions)
  • Problem Solving (identifying and solving various reasoning-based problems)

2. Current Affairs

The Current Affairs section assesses a candidate’s awareness of recent events and developments of national and international significance. This section ensures that law aspirants are updated with important events relevant to the field. Here are the important topics for this section.

  • Economic trends and significant economic events
  • Social issues, including education, health, and environment

3. Aptitude for the Study of Law

Candidates have to focus on three main aspects, i.e., Legal Awareness, Legal Reasoning, and Legal Principles, while preparing for Aptitude for the Study of Law. This section evaluates how well candidates can apply legal knowledge, interpret legal principles, and analyze hypothetical legal scenarios. Some of the important topics for this section are as follows. 

A. Legal Awareness

  • Indian Constitution (fundamental rights, directive principles, organs of government, amendments)
  • Contract Law (formation, breaches, remedies)
  • Torts (general principles, specific torts, defenses)
  • Criminal Law (Indian Penal Code, general principles, specific offenses, general exceptions)

B. Legal Reasoning

  • Case analysis (identifying issues, facts, legal principles, reasoning)
  • Problem-solving in hypothetical legal situations
  • Legal research (using statutes, case law, legal dictionaries)

C. Legal Principles

  • Interpretation of statutes and legal documents
  • Stare decisis (legal precedent)
  • Ratio decidendi (legal reasoning behind judgments)

TS LAWCET Syllabus 2025 Sectional-Weightage

The TS LAWCET 2025 exam comprises 120 questions across three main sections: General Knowledge and Mental Ability, Current Affairs, and Aptitude for the Study of Law. Both the 3-year and 5-year LLB programs follow the same subject-wise distribution. There are 30 questions each for General Knowledge and Mental Ability, and Current Affairs sections, respectively. TS PGLCET 2025 Syllabus

The TS PGLCET 2025 syllabus is structured to evaluate candidates’ understanding of core legal subjects required for admission to LLM programs in Telangana. The exam is divided into two parts: Part A covers Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law, while Part B includes Public International Law, Mercantile Law, Labour Law, Crimes and Torts, IPR, and other related laws. The important topics covered under both parts are mentioned below.
