MAT Exam: The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national-level entrance examination organised by the AIMA. Candidates who qualify for the MAT exam are allowed to seek admission into MBA/PGDM programs at over 800 B-schools across India. The exam is conducted four times every year- February, May, September, and December. The MAT question paper comprises 200 questions covering topics from English, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.

The MAT exam is administered in three modes: offline Paper-based test/ PBT, online Computer-based Based Test/CBT, and remotely proctored Internet-based Based Test/IBT. The fees, exam pattern, and syllabus remain consistent for all three modes of the MAT exam. However, the release of admit cards and exam dates are different for each format. Candidates are allowed to attempt the MAT exam multiple times according to their preference.

MAT exam 2023 for the December session is going to start on 3 December for CBT. Further, AIMA will conduct the PBT and IBT tests on 9 December and 16 December, respectively. Here is a detailed schedule of the MAT exam date 2023 for the December session:

MAT 2023 Eligibility Requirements

The eligibility criteria for the MAT exam 2023 are specified by AIMA. Candidates aiming to participate in the exam must fulfil all the eligibility requirements to complete the MAT registration and receive the admit card. Notably, there is no age restriction allowing candidates of any age to take the MAT exam. The eligibility criteria for the MAT exam are provided below:
  • Candidates seeking to apply for the examination must have successfully completed their graduation in any field from a recognised institute or university.
  • Students in their final year of graduation from any discipline are also eligible to apply for the exam.
  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts for the MAT exam. Candidates are permitted to take the exam multiple times.

MAT Exam Day Guidelines

To conveniently participate in the MAT exam, candidates must follow all the instructions provided by AIMA. The crucial guidelines for the MAT exam are listed below:
  • For the MAT IBT mode, candidates are advised to set up a laptop/desktop and check their internet connection at least one hour before the scheduled exam time.
  • Candidates must dress in formal attire and have their admit card and other necessary documents ready for the remote verification process during the IBT mode of the MAT exam.
  • For PBT and CBT modes of the MAT exam, candidates must reach the allotted exam centre at least 1 hour before the scheduled exam time.
  • It is essential for candidates to carry a blue or black ballpoint pen for PBT and CBT.
  • Candidates must avoid carrying items such as phones, electronic watches, calculators, or any similar devices to the exam centre.
  • To enter the MAT exam centre for CBT and PBT, candidates must carry a printed copy of their admit card, as a digital or photocopy of the MAT admit card will not be considered valid.
