Seats are also available in Self-Financing IM&H Medical Colleges through Seats Surrendered to the Government and Management Quota.

Eligibility Criteria for TN Health BSMS, BAMS, and BHMS Courses

Who Can Apply (Eligible)

1. Citizenship Requirement : Candidates must be citizens of India.
2. Age Criteria: Applicants should have completed the age of 17 years either at the time of admission or by the 31st of December in 2023. There is no upper age limit for applying.
3. NEET-UG Percentile: To be eligible for admission to BSMS/BAMS/BHMS Degree courses in the current academic year, candidates must score a minimum of the 50th Percentile in NEET-UG 2023. However, this criterion differs for specific categories. BC/BC(M)/MBC/DC/SC/SCA/ST candidates need to achieve a minimum of the 40th Percentile. At the same time, those with benchmark disabilities should attain the 45th Percentile for General Category and 40th Percentile for BC/BC(M)/MBC/DC/SC/SCA/ST categories in NEET UG-2023.
4. Language Proficiency: As an eligibility criterion, candidates must have studied in Tamil medium up to the 10th or 12th standard. Alternatively, they should have studied Tamil according to those standards. Those who have yet to study Tamil must commit to studying the Tamil Language as a subject during the first professional course of the B.S.M.S. course.
5. Candidates from Other States: Candidates from states other than Tamil Nadu will be considered under the Open Category and must fulfill Open Category (OC) eligibility criteria per NCISM norms.

Who Cannot Apply (Noneligible)

1. Vocational Stream and Pre-University Course : Candidates with a background of passing H.Sc. in the Vocational Stream or completing the Pre-University Course in Tamil Nadu are not eligible to apply.
2. Provisional Admission: Candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria as mentioned in clause 3 (iii) will be granted provisional admission. However, this admission is subject to the recognition of the qualifying examination by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. If recognition is not granted for any reason, the provisional admission will be considered void.
3. Existing Course Pursuers: Candidates pursuing B.S.M.S./B.A.M.S./B.H.M.S./B.U.M.S. courses are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the same course this academic year.

Selection and Admission Process for TH BSMS, BAMS, and BHMS Courses

1. Basis of Admission: Selection for these esteemed courses is primarily anchored in the NEET UG-2023 score and NEET Rank. These scores reflect your performance in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, which is a crucial component of the admission process.
2. Rank List Preparation: Eligible candidates are arranged in a rank list based on their NEET UG-2023 marks. This list serves as the foundation for determining admission, ensuring transparency and fairness in the selection process.
3. Special Categories: An additional rank list is created for Special Categories and the 7.5% seats are allocated for candidates seeking admission through the Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Indian Medicine, and Homeopathy. This initiative aims to offer preferential treatment to students from government schools, enhancing accessibility to medical education.
4. Selection in Government Colleges: Selection in government colleges follows a merit-based approach. Counseling sessions are conducted, adhering to the prescribed reservation rules. Moreover, candidates falling under the BC / BCM / MBC / DNC / SC / SCA / ST categories can also compete based on merit and benefit from the allocated reservation seats.
5. Provisional Nature of Selection: It's important to note that all selections and subsequent admissions are provisional. If it's determined that eligibility conditions have been compromised or facts have been misrepresented, the admission may be canceled. The authority for allotting seats rests entirely with the Selection Committee.
6. Selection Process Overview: The selection process hinges on your NEET UG-2023 scores. A Single Window System is followed during counseling, streamlining the process for candidates.
7. Counseling Schedule: Being well-informed about the counseling schedule is pivotal for aspiring candidates. These details are available on the official website: www.tnhealth.tn.gov.in.
8. Attendance at Counseling Sessions: Candidates are expected to attend counseling sessions as per their rank. This participation is essential to secure your spot in the admission process.
9. All India Quota: For those considering the All India Quota seats, it's important to understand that domicile requirements are not applicable. This implies that where you're from won't determine your seat eligibility.
10. Document Verification: Document verification is a critical step. Original documents must be presented to verify the self-attested photocopies you've submitted.
11. Accompanying Guardians: Parents or guardians can accompany candidates during counseling sessions. However, they're responsible for making their own arrangements for the process.
12. Exercising Your Options: During counseling, candidates have the opportunity to exercise options based on the eligibility norms specified in the Prospectus.
13. Unchangeable Decisions: It's important to note that the choices you make during counseling are irrevocable and cannot be changed once confirmed.
14. Filling Unfilled Seats: Seats remaining unfilled for Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyars (SCA) communities will be filled by other Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates based on merit.
15. Reserved ST Seats: Any remaining ST reserved seats will be allocated to SC candidates based on merit.
16. Filling BCM Seats: Seats earmarked for Backward Class Muslim (BCM) communities, which remain vacant after exhausting the merit list, will be filled based on merit by Backward Class (BC) candidates. Importantly, this will be done while adhering to the BC community quota.
17. Conversion of Quotas: The remaining All India Quota seats after counseling will be converted into State Quota. The State Government will then fill these seats, ensuring the effective utilization of available resources.
18. Special Category Counseling: Counseling for Special Categories and the 7.5% preferential allotments for Government School students are conducted before the General Category counseling.
19. Missing First Phase Counseling: Candidates who miss the first phase of counseling will not be permitted to participate in subsequent phases.
20. No Room for Change Requests: It's important to understand that requests for transferring colleges or changing courses after seat allotment during the same counseling phase will not be entertained.
21. Re-allotment in Subsequent Phases: Candidates can re-allot only during subsequent counseling phases, based on their rank and previous enrollment in a Self-Financing college.
22. Special Category Allotment: For candidates allocated seats through the 7.5% preferential allotment for Government School students and Special Categories, there will be no re-allotment or college changes during General counseling.
23. Filling from Waiting List: Vacant seats after the first phase of counseling will be filled through a waiting list via additional counseling sessions.
24. Late Phase Counseling Allotments: Seats created due to seat matrix changes or court orders will be allocated only during the second phase of counseling. This will occur within specified cutoff dates, ensuring fairness and transparency.
25. Impact of Seat Decline: Candidates who decline a seat will not be eligible for the same seat later, regardless of the circumstances.
26. Late Allotments: Candidates allotted seats after the counseling process will be placed in existing vacancies, irrespective of merit or marks.
27. Re-allotment for Non-Joiners: Seats left vacant due to non-joining candidates will be re-allotted based on merit, provided there is sufficient time before the cutoff date set by regulatory bodies.
28. Timely Re-Allotment: Candidates can be considered for re-allotment only if they've joined the course within the stipulated timeframe.
29. Implications for Unjoined/Discontinued Candidates: Candidates who have not joined or discontinued after allotment won't be eligible for further counseling phases.
