Meaning Of Unitary System

Federal government

• In a federal country the government works at more than one level i.e. central and the state government
• Each level of the government has their own powers which is written in the constitution.
• There is equal division of power between the central and the state government

Unitary government

• In unitary country the Government works at only one level i.e. Union or central levels.
• All the powers lies with the central government. The central government has the power to give orders to the state government
• States are created merely for administrative purpose. State government has no powers of its own.
