    3. Do not affect the acidified K₂Cr₂O₇ paper but turn lime water milky.
    4. Affects the acidified K₂Cr₂O₇ paper and also turns lime water milky.
  3. What would you observe when dil. HCl is added to :
    1. Sodium carbonate
    2. Sodium sulphite
    3. Sodium sulphide
  4. Identify the anion present :
    1. Substance + BaCl 2 gives white ppt. insoluble in dil. HCl and HNO 3 .
    2. Substance + conc. H 2 SO 4 gives dense white fumes with a glass rod dipped in ammonia.
    3. Substance + conc. H 2 SO 4 + Cu gives reddish brown fumes which turns KI paper brown.
  5. How would you distinguish between the following-
    1. Ferrous sulphate and ferric sulphate
    2. Calcium nitrate and zinc nitrate.
    3. Zinc nitrate and lead nitrate.
  6. Give the colour of the precipitate formed:-
    1. Ferrous salt reacts with ammonium hydroxide solution.
    2. Ferric salt reacts with sodium hydroxide solution.
    3. Copper salt reacts with sodium hydroxide solution.
    4. Lead salt reacts with sodium hydroxide solution.
