Paper-III Introduced for AAO Posts in Tier-II

A significant change in the SSC CGL 2026 examination is the addition of Paper-III to Tier-II. It is for Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer posts. For all other vacancies, the examination process remains unchanged.

SSC CGL Statistical Investigator Eligibility has been expanded as mentioned in the official notification.  Candidates should have completed their graduation in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Demography, Population Studies, Operations Research, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Applications, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.

Age Limit Reference Date Changes

SSC CGL Age Limit reference has shifted from August 1, 2025, to August 1, 2026. This adjustment extends all date-of-birth eligibility windows by one year. Candidates between the ages of 18 and 27 remain eligible to apply.

SSC CGL 2026 Tier-II Session Structure Explained More Clearly

  • Final Merit Decider: The Tier-II Computer-Based Examination is now the primary phase of the selection process. The final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of your performance in Tier-II.

  • Paper-I (Compulsory for All Posts): Every candidate must clear this paper, which is divided into the following key sections:

    • Section I: Mathematical Abilities & Reasoning and General Intelligence.

    • Section II: English Language and Comprehension & General Awareness.

    • Section III: Computer Knowledge Test (Qualifying in nature, but mandatory).

    • Section IV: Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) (Skill test for typing efficiency).

  • Paper-II (Post-Specific for Statistical Roles): Only candidates applying for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Grade-II are required to take this paper, which focuses entirely on Statistics.

  • Paper-III (Post-Specific for Gazetted Roles): Only candidates applying for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) and Assistant Accounts Officer are required to take this paper, which covers General Studies (Finance and Economics).

Tier-I Sectional Timing Clarified

The SSC CGL 2026 notification provides explicit details regarding sectional timing in Tier I. The Tier-I structure involves 25 questions and 50 marks per section, with a total duration of 1 hour. Regular candidates will have 15 minutes per section.

Stronger Scribe and Assistive Technology Rules

SSC CGL 2026 implements a technology-driven scribe verification system. Scribes must now complete One-Time Registration (OTR) and be Aadhaar authenticated. OTP verification is required for scribes during the admit card generation.
