Tier 1 (Qualifying) and Tier 2

SSC CGL Tier 1 2025

SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 exam includes 100 questions, and SSC CGL total marks are 200. Candidates will be awarded 2 marks for every correct answer, while an incorrect response will result in a deduction of 0.50 marks, adhering to the SSC CGL 2025 exam patternThe Tier 1 examination for SSC CGL in 2025 has questions from English Language, General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude as per the SSC CGL Syllabus. Successful completion of the CGL Tier 1 exam renders candidates eligible to proceed to the SSC CGL Tier 2 examination.

SSC CGL Tier 2 2025

Upon clearing the SSC CGL 2025 tier 1 examination, candidates become eligible to participate in the next stages of the SSC CGL recruitment process. The tier 2 exam of SSC CGL 2025 will also be conducted online and comprises two distinct papers. However, Candidates are advised to go through the exam pattern from the table below:-

SSC CGL Document Verification

Upon successfully clearing Tiers 1 and 2 of the SSC CGL examination, candidates will be directed to the Document Verification (DV) process, in which the candidates go through a thorough verification of both photocopies and original copies of the official documents.

Acceptable forms of Photo ID Proof include an Aadhaar Card or a printout of an E-Aadhaar, Voter's ID Card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, ID Card issued by a University/College/School, Government/PSU Employer ID Card, Ex-Serviceman Discharge Book issued by the Ministry of Defence, or any other official photo-bearing ID Card issued by the Central/State Government.

Documents for Photo ID Proof Verification

The SSC CGL Selection Process requires candidates to bring original documents for verification, including a Photo ID proof that matches the date of birth on the Admission Certificate. Acceptable documents for verification include:

  • Aadhar Card/E-Aadhar printout
  • Voter’s ID Card
  • PAN Card
  • Driving License
  • Passport
  • Official ID Card of your School/College/University
  • Employer ID Card (Govt./PSU)
  • Ex-Serviceman Discharge Book issued by the Ministry of Defence
  • Any other photo ID Card issued by the Central/State Government

Tie-Breaking Criteria in SSC CGL Selection Process 2025

In the event of a tie in the scores of candidates in the Tier-II examination, the merit will be determined by applying the following criteria, in order, until the tie is resolved:

  1. Marks scored in Paper-II of the Tier-II Examination for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)/Statistical Investigator Grade-II, if applicable.
  2. Marks scored in Section-I of Paper-I of the Tier-II Examination.
  3. Date of birth, with the older candidate being placed higher.
  4. Alphabetical order of the candidates' names.

SSC CGL Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifying marks in both Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams, which differ from the actual cut-offs released after each stage. The table below shows the minimum qualifying marks for various sections and papers:
