UP Board Class 9 Social Science Syllabus 2025 follows the student centric syllabus. It allows students to focus on setting a basic foundation for further studies rather than just memorizing facts. Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad also released the important guidelines for Class 9th students.
The syllabus comprises 4 units, each carrying specific marks leading to a total distribution of 70 marks. The subject itself carries a total of 100 marks: Written exam (70 marks) and Internal assessment (30 marks).
It’s important to know that in the UP Board Examination, the Social Sciences isn’t divided into History, Geography, Civics / Political Science, and Economics. But they are altogether put under the Social Sciences subject. Here’s a bifurcation for you:
Section 1: Indian and the Contemporary World- 1 (History)
Section 2: Contemporary India- 1 (Geography)
Section 3: Democratic Politics (Civics)
Section 4: Economy (Economics)
Each section carries certain marks and it’s essential for students to understand the high weightage topics. This will allow the students to plan their study schedule accordingly, giving their primary focus to Section 1 and 2.
But it doesn’t mean that Section 3 and 4 aren’t important, if they are carrying lesser marks. It simply means that students should give more time to Section 1 and 2 than Section 3 and 4.
The syllabus provides complete coverage of the UP Board exam pattern, the marking scheme, and the important topics to be covered for the exam. Students should begin their preparation by going through the syllabus and give key importance to high weightage topics. Download the syllabus and begin your preparation thoroughly.
