IELTS Last Minute Tips

IELTS Last Minute Tips : The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam is taken by students who want to work, travel, or study internationally. IDP manages and runs exams in India. The exam examines non-native English speakers' writing, reading, speaking, and listening abilities in the English language.

The IELTS band score is an essential qualifying requirement used by leading universities in English-speaking nations. Students need to study hard for each of the language examination's four sections if they want to perform well. Here are some IELTS Last Minute Tips students need to keep in mind before taking the exam.

IELTS Last Minute Tips

Here are a few IELTS Last Minute Tips. Students can use the following tips to help them before and during the exam:
  • Check the IELTS exam date and time  Checking the IELTS exam date and time again is important. Students may not be allowed to take the examination if they arrive late, so on the day of the exam, plan to arrive early and have some extra time on hand.
  • Carry identification proof  An identification document is important. ID, such as the passport or national identity card the student used to register for the exam, must be carried with them.
  • Arrive Early  Students must be aware of the exam center's location and the approximate time it takes to go to the center from their residence. Students will not be permitted entry if they arrive late on the day of the exam. Make an effort to be at the center at least an hour in advance of the exam.
  • Eat healthily and get enough sleep  It takes around two hours and forty minutes to complete the writing, speaking, reading, and listening sections. The various exam sections won't be separated by any breaks. Make sure to eat and relax well before taking the exam so that students can answer the questions without feeling ill or sleepy.
  • Wear comfortable clothes  Make an effort to dress simply and comfortably. Dress on something that gives you a confident and clean appearance.
  • Keep your phone out of your pocket  Mobile phones and other electronic devices are not permitted within the examination room. There will be no exceptions for mobile phones. Students must not bring in any electronic devices, including computers or cell phones. All of your items must be left in a locker outside the examination room.
  • A pen, pencil, and eraser are not important  Do not bring any paper inside the examination hall. Candidates will also be given a pen, pencil, and eraser in the exam center. Pencil boxes and pouches are not permitted in the exam room.
  • Don't bring a watch  The examination hall will have a clock, as it is not permitted for anyone to bring their watch.
  • Before the exam begins, use the restroom  It is advisable to use the restroom before the exam starts, even if students are permitted to do so during the reading and writing sections.
  • Remain focused  Make sure candidates fully understand the syllabus and format before taking the exam. During the exam, maintain their focus and attention.

IELTS Last Minute Tips for Listening Test

Here is some specific advice for achieving high scores in each of the sections. A student's final IELTS listening score depends on how well candidates do in the Listening section. It examines candidates' understanding of spoken English in several subjects and dialects. The listening section might help candidates improve their approach. These last minute preparation tips for IELTS will improve their marks.
  • Make sure candidates' headphones are working before starting their listening exam. Always get confirmation by asking questions if you are unsure of something.
  • Make sure the speaker volume is right in advance if the exam is being conducted using a shared speaker system.
  • Read over all of the questions provided to candidates during the preparation period before answering them within the time limit specified.
  • Answer the questions as candidates listen to the audio and write down any relevant details on their question paper.
  • Consider how many words are required for each question while writing the answers. Create a mental format for your answers during this time limit.
  • Grammar must be checked in the 10 minutes you have to write down your answers in the answer book before submitting. It is strongly advised that candidates write their answers in block or capital letters.

IELTS Last Minute Tips for Reading Test

There will be three sections for IELTS reading. The writings under review are taken from several random publications, including journals, books, websites, and newspapers. The written work will be between 2150 and 2750 words long total. Below are some IELTS reading exam tips and strategies:
  • Make a note of how many words are required of you for every answer. Make sure candidates don't go over time by timing the answers.
  • Try writing your answers immediately in the answer book to save time and avoid going overboard.
  • Avoid paraphrasing answers. Instead of writing the complete passage in the answer book, concentrate just on the answers. This will show that candidates have understood the paragraph.
  • It is advised that candidates type their answers in capital letters.

  • Write at least 150 words for Task 1 and more than 250 words for Task 2. Do not exceed 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
  • Making a mind map of your essay on the exam question paper is an excellent idea because the examiner won't be looking at it anyhow.
  • Make sure Students have included all of the tips from their letter in GT Task 1 and that the Task 1 summary is short and clear. Writing a conclusion for your Task 2 assignment is required.
  • Always use grammar check while submitting your answer, and make sure it is divided into body paragraphs. If you think you might run out of paper in the exam room, get extras.

IELTS Last Minute Tips for Speaking Test

The speaking exams for general and academic subjects are the same. The speaking section lasts between 11 and 14 minutes, and it is divided into three sections, the introduction round (Part I), the cue card round (Part 2), and the discussion round (Part 3). Below are some more exam-day strategies for taking the IELTS speaking exam.
  • Prepare by practicing speaking in proper English on a variety of subjects.
  • Maintain Student's confidence in their speaking abilities. Answer the question immediately in Parts 1 and 3. Remember that only 25% of the grade is based on vocabulary, so don't focus on it too much.
  • Make the most use of grammatical tenses during the exam. Students' scores won't be affected by having a mixed accent. It is recommended to look as much as possible at the examiner or invigilator when speaking, looking at your cue cards or notes also helps.
  • If you find yourself interrupted by the examiner,  it's only a procedure.
