KVS Eligibility 2025: Kendriya Vidyalaya Samiti has announced the KVS Teacher eligibility criteria. The Samiti recently announced that the KVS eligibility has been revised for TGT, PRT and PGT posts. KVS Eligibility 2025 Revised

• The experience requirement for the Principal position has been raised from 8 years to 12 years, which has surprised many Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs). Additionally, Vice Principals (VPs) are now required to have 3 years of experience.

• The minimum age for the Headmaster role is now set at 35 years, whereas there were no age restrictions previously. In the last recruitment cycle, several candidates under 35, including some as young as 27-28, were selected. This change poses a significant challenge for Primary Teachers (PRTs).

• The requirement regarding graduation subjects, which previously applied only to Hindi, has now been expanded to include all subjects for PGT recruitment. This adjustment adversely affects candidates who completed a BSc and later pursued an MA instead of an MSc due to the practical nature of MSc programs, which are often difficult to complete through distance learning. Candidates with an Arts background will not be impacted, but this change has dashed the hopes of many others.

• Previously, KVS employees enjoyed no age limit, but now they receive only a 5-year age relaxation. This change negatively impacts those who joined KVS without completing their education, as only 10% of employees are permitted to pursue further studies. Many new hires do not receive approval for additional education, and by the time they qualify, they may exceed the age limit.

• The experience needed for PGTs to qualify for the Vice Principal (VP) position has been increased to 6 years.

• A B.Ed. degree is now a requirement for candidates applying for the PGT Computer Science position, whereas it was not previously necessary.

• The exemption from the 50% rule for promotions from TGT to PGT for KVS employees has been revoked, marking a significant change in the promotion process.

• The allocation of seats for Headmaster (HM), PGT, and TGT positions through the LDE has decreased from 50% to 33.3%.

• A new category for special educators has been established, with 497 positions for TGT Special Educators and 494 positions for PRT Special Educators.

KVS PRT Educational Qualification

• Completion of Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary / Intermediate (10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks, along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (under any recognized title) from a recognized Institute/Board.

• Completion of Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary / Intermediate (Class XII) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) from a recognized Institute/Board.

• Completion of Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary / Intermediate (Class XII) with a minimum of 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) accredited by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

• Candidates must have successfully passed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Paper-I, administered by the Government of India.

• Candidates should be proficient in teaching in both Hindi and English mediums.

• The candidate must be familiar with computer applications.

• Candidates holding a D.Ed. (Special Education) Qualifications are required to complete a 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education, recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) after their appointment.

KVS TGT Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess either a Four-year Integrated Degree or a Bachelor’s/Honours Degree in the relevant subject, achieving a minimum of 50% marks both subject-wise and in aggregate.

• A B.Ed., a Three-year B.Ed.-M.Ed., or a One-year B.Ed. (Special Education) from an institution recognized by the NCTE or RCI is required, with at least 50% marks.

• Candidates must have successfully qualified for the CTET (Paper-II) and demonstrate proficiency in teaching in both English and Hindi mediums.

• Those holding a B.Ed. (Special Education) must complete a six-month Special Programme in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE after their appointment

KVS PGT Educational Qualification

• Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree or an Integrated Post Graduate Course in the relevant subject from a university recognized by the NCTE, with a minimum of 50% marks.

• A B.Ed. Degree, a Three-year B.Ed.-M.Ed., or a Four-year Integrated Degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is required, also with at least 50% marks.

• Language Proficiency:
  Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in teaching in both Hindi and English mediums.

KVS Teacher Domicile 2025

Candidates who possess the following domicile as per KVS Teacher Eligibility 2025 will be allowed to apply for the examination.

• An individual who is a citizen of India,

• A national of Nepal,

• A national of Bhutan,

• A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, to permanently settle in the country,

• A person of Indian descent who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam, to permanently settle in India
