MPTET Varg 2 Topper Salman Javed Secures Rank 1 with 100 Percentile with PW

For Salman Javed, securing Rank 1 in MPTET Varg 2 was the result of a career change, consistent preparation, and a clear approach to learning. After completing his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and working in the private sector for seven years, he decided to move into teaching in 2019.

He later completed his B.Ed. and continued preparing for government teaching exams alongside his work and family responsibilities. When he appeared for MPTET Varg 2 for the first time, he secured Rank 1 with a 100 percentile in Maths.

Salman built his preparation from the basics with NCERT books and then used PW

Teaching Mahapack, one-shot videos, and other online resources for further preparation and revision. Rather than depending heavily on shortcuts, he focused on understanding concepts and practising questions.

Salman Javed Career Shift Started His Teaching Journey

Salman Javed belongs to Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, and currently lives in his hometown with his family. His journey towards teaching began after spending seven years in the private sector.

He completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida, in 2012. While working in the engineering sector, his colleagues often approached him whenever they faced a problem because of his ability to explain things clearly.

Talking about how he discovered his interest in teaching, Salman said:

“Actually jab bhi site mein koi problem hoti thi toh mere jo junior the ya kuch mere senior bhi the, kabhi-kabhi jab unhe problem hoti thi toh mujhse aake cheezein poocha karte the. Aur main jab unhe explain karta tha toh har baar mujhe ek hi compliment milta tha, yaar teri teaching bahut achhi hai. Tu samjhata bahut achha karta hai. Tu teaching try kar.”

These conversations made Salman realise that teaching could be a suitable career for him. He also wanted a career that would allow him to spend more time with his family.

In 2019, he left the private sector and moved into teaching. Since he did not have a B.Ed. at that point, he completed the qualification while continuing his teaching career and preparing for government teaching exams.

His career shift became the first major step towards his eventual MPTET Varg 2 success.

Salman Javed Continued Preparing Alongside Family Responsibilities

Changing careers and preparing for a government exam after working in the private sector required patience and consistency. Salman also had responsibilities towards his family, which meant that his preparation had to fit around his daily routine.

During this period, his wife became one of his biggest sources of support. She encouraged him to continue studying and supported him during long study hours.

Salman explained:

“Sir agar main kahun toh meri success mein most of the role meri wife ka hi hai. Maine jo kiya woh toh kiya hi, but mujhe motivate karne wali meri wife hi thi. Jab mujhe padhna hota tha toh mujhe hamesha saath deti thi. Mujhe agar neend aa rahi hai toh mujhe chai pilati thi. Mere saath jaagti thi aur kabhi usne sir mujhe aisa nahi bola ki yaar tu padhta hi rehta hai. Mujhe time nahi deta. Kabhi usne mujhse time ki complaint nahi ki.”

Her support helped Salman maintain his preparation even when his schedule became demanding. For him, preparation was not an isolated process. His family, especially his wife, played an important role in helping him stay motivated throughout the journey.

When Salman checked his MPTET result, his wife was also beside him. She was the first person to share the moment with him after he secured Rank 1.

Salman Javed Started MPTET Preparation with NCERT Books

For MPTET Varg 2 Maths, Salman did not begin with shortcuts or advanced-level questions. He first focused on strengthening his fundamentals.

He considered NCERT books an important starting point for his preparation and studied the Maths books from Classes 9 to 12 before moving towards higher-level preparation.

He said:

“Sir dekhiye sabse pehle toh jo hamari education ka basic hai woh hai NCERT books. Toh maine sabse pehle toh 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th ki jo NCERT books thi unhe maine padha. Iske baad maine socha ki chaliye kuch high level pe chalte hain.”

After completing the basic preparation, Salman started looking for resources that could help him prepare at a higher level. He came across PW’s Teaching Mahapack and explored the available content.

He found the different sections useful because he could access preparation resources for multiple teaching exams through the same platform. Since MPTET Varg 2 was his primary target, he focused mainly on the relevant section.

Salman Javed Used PW for Concept Revision and One-Shot Lectures

After building his foundation with NCERT books, Salman used PW’s Teaching Mahapack and online lectures to continue his preparation.

He focused primarily on the MPTET Varg 2 section but also used Maths one-shot videos when he wanted to revise specific topics. These videos helped him revisit concepts that he had studied earlier without spending too much time.

Salman said:

“Toh maine jo hai uska jo Varg 2 wala section tha, maine woh scroll kiya kyunki woh mera bhi primary motto tha. Baaki bhi main dekhta tha aur main us pe zyada focus karta tha. Aur kai baar jo one-time videos hote hain PW ke, toh one-shot videos jo hote hain kai baar Maths ke woh bhi dekh liya karta tha.”

He used these lectures for topics such as differentiation and integration and sometimes watched higher-level Maths content to revise his older concepts.

He added:

“Jaise koi chapter hai, maan lijiye differentiation hai, integration hai, toh jo NEET aur JEE level ka bhi hota hai, toh main kabhi-kabhi woh one-shot dekha karta tha taaki jo mera puraana hai saara ek baar mein revise ho jaaye. Toh main apne matlab kam se kam time pe zyada se zyada karne ki koshish karta tha. Toh usmein mujhe ye jo online platform hai, isne mujhe kaafi help ki hai sir.”

For Salman, online learning provided the flexibility to revise according to his schedule. Instead of depending on fixed classroom timings, he could choose lectures based on the topics he needed to study or revise.

This helped him balance his teaching responsibilities with his MPTET preparation.

Salman Javed Chose Conceptual Learning Over Shortcuts

Maths can be challenging for many students, and aspirants often look for shortcuts to solve lengthy questions quickly. Salman, however, believes that shortcuts should not become the foundation of preparation.

According to him, students should first understand the concepts and then improve their speed through practice.

When asked whether students should focus on conceptual understanding or shortcuts, he said:

“Sir mere according bachche ko poori concept-based study karni chahiye. Kyunki maine kai saare sir online videos dekhe jismein woh kya karte hain na, har cheez ke shortcut, shortcut banate hain. Aur jab woh shortcut ko hum collect karte hain na, ek toh woh shortcut hi itne lengthy ho jaate hain ki hum unhe yaad karne mein apne concepts bhool jaate hain. Toh mujhe ye lagta hai ki humein concept ke through jaana chahiye. Aur agar aapke concepts strong hain aur aapki practice achhi hai, toh woh question apne aap hi jaldi se solve ho jayega. Toh uske shortcut ki zarurat hi nahi padegi humein.”

His approach was to make conceptual clarity the foundation of preparation. For him, shortcuts can be useful only after the basics are already strong.

This strategy also helped him avoid spending too much time memorising different tricks for different types of questions.

Salman Javed Overcame His Fear of Maths Through Preparation

Along with conceptual learning, Salman believes that students need to overcome their fear of Maths. He considers fear one of the biggest barriers that can prevent students from reaching their goals.

When asked whether the fear of Maths can be overcome, he said:

“Sir main sabse pehle yahi kehna chahunga ki apne andar se aapko dar ko door karna hai. Dekhiye duniya mein koi bhi cheez aisi nahi hoti agar aap thaan lein toh woh aap achieve na kar paayein. Aur sabse bada jo constraint hai, matlab jo aapki rukawat hai na aapki success mein, woh hai aapka dar. Jis din aap dar apne dil se nikaal denge na, aap kuch bhi achieve kar sakte hain.”

For Salman, confidence did not come from avoiding difficult questions. It came from understanding the subject and continuing to practise. His approach helped him treat Maths as a subject that could be mastered with the right preparation rather than something to fear.

Salman Javed Secured Rank 1 in His First MPTET Attempt

Salman’s preparation had to fit around his work and family commitments, which meant he could not follow an extremely intensive mock-test schedule.

When asked how many mock tests he attempted while preparing for MPTET Varg 2, he gave an honest answer:

“Sir bahut zyada dene ka toh time nahi mila mujhe kyunki main subah se shaam tak busy rehta tha. Just an honest answer. Haan. Yes sir. But two-three, bas two-three.”

He attempted only around two to three mock tests. Instead of relying on a large number of mocks, he focused on building his concepts, revising the syllabus, and making effective use of the study time available to him.

This preparation helped him achieve an exceptional result in his first attempt. Salman secured Rank 1 with a 100 percentile in MPTET Varg 2 Maths.

His result shows that the number of hours or mock tests alone does not define preparation. A focused approach, strong fundamentals, regular revision, and the ability to use limited time effectively can also make a significant difference.

Salman Javed’s Advice for MPTET Varg 2 Aspirants

Salman’s journey from an Electrical Engineering graduate to a teacher and then to an MPTET Varg 2 Rank 1 holder shows how a career change can become the beginning of a new path.

His preparation was built around fundamentals. He started with NCERT books, used PW’s online resources for further preparation and revision, and focused on understanding concepts rather than memorising shortcuts.

For students preparing for MPTET Varg 2 Maths, his biggest advice is to strengthen their concepts, practise consistently, and not let fear hold them back.

Salman's success also highlights the importance of support from family and the value of making the most of limited preparation time. Despite working, managing family responsibilities, and having limited opportunities to take mock tests, he secured Rank 1 and a 100 percentile in his first MPTET Varg 2 attempt.

His journey can inspire aspirants to focus less on how difficult their circumstances are and more on how effectively they can use the resources and time available to them.
