- A master’s degree in the relevant field from a recognised institution or an integrated six-year postgraduate master’s degree from a regional college of education approved by NCERT, with at least 50% of the marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade.
- The candidate needs to have graduated from a recognised institution or university with a B.Ed. or a degree recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi, as being equal to a B. Ed
- For the position of PGT in Commerce, Education, Geology, Home Science, Logic & Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, IRPM, Telugu & Urdu, a B. Ed. degree is not a requirement for eligibility
