UGC NET Economics Normalization procedure
Step 1: Raw marks conversion to NTA Score: For multi-shift papers, the raw marks obtained by candidates in different shifts/sessions are converted to NTA Score (percentile). Step 2: NTA Score calculation: The procedure for calculating NTA Score is available on the NTA website. The NTA Score is calculated based on the percentile score. The percentile score is the percentage of candidates who have scored below a particular candidate's score. For example, if a candidate has a score of 60, and 40% of candidates have scored below 60, then the candidate's percentile score is 60. Step 3: Merging NTA Scores: In case of a subject test conducted in multi-shifts, the calculated NTA Score for the raw marks for all shifts/sessions is merged for further processing. Step 4: Handling dissimilar percentiles: If the percentiles for the multi-shifts are dissimilar/unequal, the lowest percentile will be the eligibility cut-off for that category for all candidates (i.e., all shifts). This means that even if a candidate has a high score in one shift, they will not be eligible if their score falls below the eligibility cut-off percentile in another shift. For example, suppose a subject test is conducted in two shifts - Shift 1 and Shift 2. The percentiles for Shift 1 are:- 40% marks correspond to a percentile score of 78
- 60% marks correspond to a percentile score of 95
- 40% marks correspond to a percentile score of 79
- 60% marks correspond to a percentile score of 98
