Objectives of NAVYA Skilling Scheme

The Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls aims to empower adolescent girls aged 16 to 18 years, who have completed at least Class 10. Its objectives include:

• Providing short-term vocational training to build their skills and ensure their employability.

• Building confidence and self-reliance among young girls.

• Promoting gender equality by encouraging girls to participate in various industries.

• Supporting girls from underdeveloped regions like tribal and aspirational districts.

• Creating a foundation for entrepreneurship and future employment.

Through these goals, NAVYA aims to contribute to India’s broader vision of “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.

Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls - Features

The main features of the NAVYA skilling scheme include:

• Target Group: Focused on girls aged 16–18 years across India, especially from tribal and underdeveloped areas.

• Geographic Reach: Launched in 27 districts across 19 states, including northeastern and aspirational districts.

• Job-Oriented Training: Offers short, intensive courses in high-demand, market-relevant skills.

• In-Demand Skills Covered: Girls will be trained in various skills such as graphic designing, telecom and financial services, smartphone and drone assembly, solar panel installation, CCTV setup, and hand embroidery.

• Leverages Existing Schemes: Integrated with programs like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) for resource efficiency and scale.

• Promotes Non-Traditional Careers: Encourages girls to enter male-dominated sectors like electronics, telecom, and finance.

• Entrepreneurship Support: Girls will be encouraged to start their own micro or small businesses, helping build a culture of self-employment.
