With the regular-fee deadline on 31 October, the real worry for most design aspirants is whether they are eligible and whether they can complete the form correctly before the late-fee window starts. Missing a detail at this stage can cost you an attempt, since you can take UCEED only twice and only in consecutive years.
Once your form is in, preparation becomes the priority. PW offers the PW UCEED Sprint 2027 batch, which includes live and recorded classes, personalised feedback on 20 drawing assignments and 10 full-length mock tests. It lets you plan your UCEED preparation around the exam while your application is already sorted.
You can register for UCEED 2027 online through the official UCEED portal. Keep the following dates in mind:

UCEED 2027 is open to all nationals, Indian and foreign. You must meet all three criteria below to appear.
Age limit
Born on or after 1 October 2002 if you belong to the OPEN, EWS or OBC-NCL category.
Born on or after 1 October 1997 if you belong to the SC, ST or PwD category.
Number of attempts
You can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times, and only in consecutive years.
Your UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admission in the corresponding academic year (2027–2028).
Qualifying examination
You must have appeared for Class XII (or equivalent) for the first time in 2026 or 2027.
Students from all streams (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible.
If you first appeared for Class XII in 2025 or earlier, you are not eligible. The exception is where your board declared the 2024–25 results on or after 30 September 2025, provided you meet all other criteria.
Accepted qualifying examinations include the 10+2 examination of a Central or State Board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the two-year Intermediate or Pre-University examination, NIOS Senior Secondary with at least five subjects, GCE A-level, the Cambridge High School Certificate and the IB Diploma. A diploma recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education of at least three years' duration is also accepted. However, the participating institutes' B.Des. admission criteria may not consider candidates with a three-year diploma, so check this before you apply.
Follow these steps to complete your UCEED 2027 registration:
Check your eligibility. Confirm that you meet the age, attempt and qualifying-examination criteria above.
Note the deadline. Plan to register on or before 31 October 2026 so that you do not pay the late fee.
Open the registration portal. Go to uceed.iitb.ac.in and start your UCEED 2027 registration.
Complete the form as instructed on the portal. Detailed instructions for each step of the online registration are provided on the registration portal, so follow them carefully.
Submit before the closing date. The late-fee window ends on 6 November 2026 at 5:00 pm, and that is the last opportunity.
UCEED registration and the B.Des. applications are two separate activities. Registering and qualifying in UCEED does not give you automatic admission to any programme.
After you qualify, you must apply separately for B.Des. admission at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. The process works as follows:
Common application form: There is one form for all seven institutes, available through the IIT Bombay Admissions Portal. The link will be on the official UCEED website.
Order of preference: You select your institutes in order of preference.
Documents to upload: Digital copies of your photograph, signature, UCEED Score Card and Class XII (or equivalent) mark sheet. Where applicable, you also upload your EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST certificate, PwD certificate and OCI/PIO card.
Editing: You can edit and resubmit the form until the closing date. After that, all institute choices and information are final, and no changes are entertained.
Accuracy: Incorrect or incomplete forms are summarily rejected and considered invalid.
Seat allocation: Seats are allocated by All-India Rank, reservation category and seat availability in each institute.
Before submitting your UCEED 2027 application, check a few common mistakes that can affect your registration or admission process. Keep the deadlines, eligibility rules and use of the UCEED Score Card in mind.
Missing the regular deadline: Registering after 31 October 2026 means paying the late fee, and nothing is accepted after 6 November 2026 at 5:00 pm.
Assuming you are eligible: Class XII appearance in 2025 or earlier makes you ineligible, apart from the board-result exception above.
Treating a rank as an admission: A UCEED rank does not guarantee B.Des. admission. You must apply separately.
Using the Score Card as identity proof: The UCEED Score Card cannot be treated as proof of date of birth, category or disability status.
After you register, keep track of the UCEED 2027 exam date and start covering the UCEED 2027 syllabus. The UCEED 2027 exam is conducted by IIT Bombay under the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee 2027.
Filling the UCEED 2027 application form correctly and within the prescribed deadline is the first step towards appearing for the exam. Make sure your eligibility, personal and academic details, documents and application fee are checked before submitting the form. After registration, continue your preparation with the UCEED 2027 syllabus and keep track of important exam updates to stay on schedule.
