It included the General Ability Test (GAT) for all courses and the Creative Ability Test (CAT) for B.Des and M.Des aspirants.
The CAT is a subjective, pen-and-paper test designed to assess a candidate’s creativity, design ability, observation skills, and innovative use of color and illustration. After NIFT Result is declared for GAT & CAT, shortlisted candidates will then proceed to the next stage, which is the Situation Test for B.Des or Personal Interview for PG programs. Only those who qualify in the written exams and meet the cutoff will be eligible for these subsequent rounds.
The Situation Test assesses candidates on their creativity, material handling, innovation, and problem-solving skills. For PG programs, Personal Interview evaluates a candidate's communication skills, subject knowledge, and suitability for the chosen design program. The final merit list and admission offers will be prepared by giving specific weightage to both the written tests and the Situation Test or Personal Interview.
