Applicants must fulfil the following conditions as mentioned in the AAI Apprentice Eligibility 2026.
Domicile: Only Indian nationals who are domiciles of Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Leh, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are eligible.
Age Limit: Minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 26 years as of September 16, 2026. Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, and PWBD categories as per government guidelines.
Educational Qualification:
Graduate: Full-time 4-year Degree in Engineering or relevant non-engineering streams (BCA/B.Com).
Diploma: Full-time 3-year Diploma in Engineering.
ITI Trade: ITI/NCVT certificate in designated trades.
Passing Year: Only candidates who passed their degree, diploma, or ITI in 2024 or after 2024 are eligible.
Ineligibility: Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training or have job experience of one year or more are not eligible.
AAI Apprentice Selection Process 2026 is conducted on a merit basis without a written test.
Merit List: Shortlisting is based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. In case of equal percentage, date of birth and passing date are considered for seniority.
Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates receive notification via their registered email address to attend document verification at designated offices.
Medical Fitness: Selected candidates must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Government Medical Officer at the time of joining.
Contract Signing: Selected candidates must sign an online apprenticeship contract on the NATS or NAPS portal.
Selected candidates receive a monthly stipend for 12 months during the training:
Graduate Apprentices: ₹15,000 per month (AAI Share: ₹8,850 + Government Share: ₹6,150).
Diploma Apprentices: ₹12,000 per month (AAI Share: ₹6,550 + Government Share: ₹5,450).
Trade (ITI) Apprentices: ₹9,600 per month.
