JEE Main 2025 Changes Introduced This Year :
NTA (National Testing Agency) has introduced various changes in
JEE Main 2025 exam
. Candidates must go through the changes made to JEE Main 2025 exam to prepare better for the exam. The changes have been made to the exam pattern, tie-breaking rule, eligibility criteria, etc. JEE Main Eligibility Criteria and Exam Pattern have been reverted to the pre-pandemic pattern. NTA has made several other changes in JEE Main 2025 exam.
JEE Main 2025 Changes Introduced This Year
Candidates can check the key changes made to JEE Main 2025 exam below.
Changes in Exam Pattern
One of the most significant changes is in the
JEE Main exam pattern
. The NTA has removed optional questions from Section B of both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Previously, candidates could choose from five optional questions out of ten. Now, Section B will consist of only five compulsory questions. This change reduces the total number of questions in the exam, making it more straightforward for candidates.
Paper 1: Now contains a total of 75 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
Paper 2A: Includes a total of 77 questions.
Paper 2B: Comprises 100 MCQs.
This adjustment aims to simplify the decision-making process during the exam.
Introduction of Negative Marking
Another important change is the introduction of negative marking for numerical-based questions. Candidates will lose one mark for each incorrect answer in this section. This new rule encourages careful consideration before answering questions, as students must think critically about their responses.
Reduction in Exam Centres
The total number of
JEE Main exam centres
has been reduced from 300 to 284. This change may affect candidates' options for selecting convenient locations to take the exam. Candidates should check their assigned exam centre details on their admit cards.
Revised Syllabus
The NTA has also revised the
syllabus for JEE Main 2025
. Certain topics have been removed from Physics, including Scalars & Vectors and related concepts. This reduction aims to focus on essential topics that are more relevant to the current curriculum.
Changes in Tie-Breaking Policy
The tie-breaking policy has been updated as well. Previously, ties were resolved based on age and
JEE Main application number
. Now, ties will be broken based on scores in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in that order. If ties persist after these criteria, candidates will receive the same rank.
