CLAT 2025 Counselling Refunds

CLAT 2025 Counselling Refunds: CLAT revised counselling 2025 started immediately after the CLAT revised results were declared, i.e., on 17 May 2025. The counselling registration will close on 21 May 2025. For the General category, the counselling fee is Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 for SC and ST candidates. However, many candidates are now asking the Consortium for refunds as they have paid the fees earlier in December.

Due to the revision of the CLAT results, many aspirants are now debarred from CLAT counselling, and many have secured admission to non-NLUs. All these students are now seeking a counselling refund from the Consortium of NLUs. The Consortium is now figuring out how to proceed. In some cases, candidates who are eligible for CLAT counselling have a lower probability of securing a seat in the preferred NLUs due to the scarcity of seats. Such candidates are also in the queue to take their CLAT 2025 counselling refunds. The CLAT 2025 counselling refund will be given to these candidates after they meet the terms and conditions.

Types of CLAT 2025 Counselling Refunds

Depending on whether a candidate is allotted a seat, opts out of counselling, or is found ineligible, the CLAT refund eligibility and deductions vary. The Consortium of NLUs has outlined clear rules, including full refunds for those not allotted seats and partial refunds in cases of late withdrawal or document ineligibility. The following are the major cases in which candidates can seek CLAT counselling refunds.

  • Candidates who have been barred from CLAT counselling due to the revisions in the CLAT results can opt for the CLAT counselling refund.
  • Candidates who are eligible for the CLAT counselling and have been shortlisted but do not want to take part in counselling process can also ask for refunds.
  • Aspirants who fail to secure a seat in the NLU till the last round of counselling can apply for refunds.
  • Refund option is also available for candidates who exercise options such as freeze and float, but later opt out of the admission process.

1. CLAT 2025 Counselling Refunds For Disqualified Candidates

Candidates who are disqualified from the CLAT 2025 counselling process are eligible for a refund of their counselling registration fee. This refund will be processed after deducting a processing charge of Rs 5000 from the original fee amount. Candidates can visit the official portal of Consortium to get latest information regarding how to process the refund.

2. CLAT 2025 Counselling Refunds for Candidates Opting Out of Admission Process

Candidates who wish to opt out of the CLAT 2025 admission process have several refund options depending on the stage and method of withdrawal. The Consortium of NLUs has established clear guidelines to ensure that candidates who do not wish to continue with the counselling or admission process can receive their counselling registration fee back. Such candidates need not exercise the freeze and float option, but rather choose the Exit option when allotments are announced. The process and amount refunded vary based on whether the candidate exits before or after specific deadlines, or after exercising options like Freeze or Float.

3. CLAT 2025 Counselling Refunds After No Seat Allotment

Candidates who do not receive any seat allotment during the CLAT 2025 counselling process are eligible for a full refund of their counselling registration fee. This refund applies to those who remain unallotted by the end of the final counselling round, provided they have not exercised options like “Freeze” or “Float” or have exited the process before the specified deadlines. The refund is processed directly to the original payment account. Candidates to regularly monitor the official CLAT portal for updates on refund status and deadlines.

4. CLAT 2025 Counselling Refunds After Exercising Freeze & Float Options

After exercising the Freeze or Float options in CLAT 2025 counselling, candidates must understand the specific refund rules that apply if they later decide to withdraw from the admission process. The Freeze option is selected by those satisfied with their allotted seat, while the Float option allows candidates to wait for a higher preference in subsequent rounds. Both options require payment of a non-refundable confirmation fee, which is forfeited if the candidate exits after accepting a seat.

If the candidate opts out before the stipulated deadline, they will get a full refund of the counselling registration fee, but exiting after the deadline leads to a deduction of Rs 5,000 from the refund amount, in addition to the forfeiture of the confirmation fee. Depending on the category, candidates will get a refund of Rs 15,000 or Rs 20,000.

CLAT Merit List 2025

The CLAT Merit List 2025 will be published by the Consortium of NLUs after each round of counselling. It will include details such as candidate ranks, categories, and admit card numbers. The list also reflects the cut-off ranks for each NLU and incorporates tie-breaker rules in cases where candidates have identical scores. The CLAT first merit list 2025 will be announced on 26 May 2025. Candidates can visit the official website to download it.
