CLAT Selection Process 2025

CLAT Selection Process 2025: The CLAT 2025 selection process includes two stages including a written test and counseling process. The written test is an objective exam, held in pen-and-paper mode at the CLAT-allotted centers. After the candidates have cleared the written exam, they can proceed with the counseling process. For the counseling, the eligible candidates must register on the official website of the Consortium. Once the counseling and seat allotment process is completed, candidates have to pay the respective admission fee to confirm their seats.

CLAT Exam Pattern 2025

The CLAT 2025 exam pattern has been revised by the Consortium. The changes will be implemented in the CLAT 2025 cycle. Any further updates regarding the exam will be updated by the Consortium on its official website. Here is the list of changes in the Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) 2025.
  • The total questions have been decreased from 150 to 120 for the CLAT UG 2025 exam.
  • For the CLAT PG 2025 exam, the descriptive part has been completely removed.
  • There will be comprehension-based questions in both CLAT PG and UG.
  • The CLAT PG will consist of 5 subjects namely, Current Affairs (General Knowledge), Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, English Language, and Quantitative Techniques.
  • As per the new pattern, there will be short passages followed by 4-5 objective questions.
  • For the CLAT PG, candidates have to answer 120 objective comprehension-based questions in 120 minutes.

CLAT 2025 Selection Process UG Exam Pattern

The CLAT UG 2025 exam will be conducted in offline mode by the Consortium at the allotted centers. There will be 120 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. Candidates can view the questions only in the English Language. The table presents details regarding the CLAT UG Exam Pattern 2025.

CLAT 2025 Selection Process PG Exam Pattern

Like the CLAT UG exam, the CLAT PG exam is also held in offline mode at the allotted centers. The questions will be objective based on core law subjects and legal concepts. As per the revised CLAT PG 2025 syllabus, the descriptive part has been removed from the paper. The detailed exam pattern is given in the following table.

CLAT UG Eligibility 2025 for CLAT Selection Process

Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria for the CLAT UG exam before applying for the 5-year BA LLB program. The eligibility criteria include the following factors.
  • Candidates belonging to General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories must have passed class 12th or equivalent exams with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks from any recognized board.
  • Candidates of SC/ST categories need 40% aggregate marks in class 12th or equivalent exams.
  • As per the CLAT 2025 notification, there is no upper age limit for UG.
  • Candidates appearing for their class 12th exam in March/April 2025 can also appear for the exam. However, they shall present their passing certificates at the time of admission.

CLAT PG Eligibility 2025 for CLAT Selection Process

The CLAT PG eligibility 2025 outlines the minimum requirements that candidates must fulfill before appearing for the exam. The CLAT PG Eligibility 2025 is mentioned below.
  • Candidates belonging to the General/NRI/OCI/OBC/PIO/PwD categories must have an LLB degree with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent grades from a recognized university.
  • The SC/ST category candidates need 45% aggregate marks or equivalent grades in their LLB degrees.
  • There is no upper age limit for the CLAT PG.
  • Candidates appearing in their final year/semester are also eligible for the CLAT PG 2025 exam. However, they shall present their passing certificates at the time of admission.

CLAT Counseling Process

The CLAT counseling process will commence once the CLAT 2025 results are declared. Candidates will receive an invitation to participate in the counseling process according to the merit list. The shortlisted candidates must register themselves on the official website of the Consortium for the counseling process. Once the candidate has registered for the counseling process, multiple allotment lists will be out. Candidates have the option to either freeze, float, or exit the counseling process. To secure a seat in National Law Universities (NLUs) under the UG program, candidates must register themselves for counseling.
