The Unicus Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (UAIO) is an international online competition for students from Class 1 to Class 10. It introduces students to artificial intelligence through multiple-choice questions based on AI concepts, logical thinking, algorithms, and real-world applications.
The Unicus Artificial Intelligence Olympiad 2027 will be conducted online and will include two sections, Classic and Scholar. The Classic Section focuses on practical applications of AI, while the Scholar Section tests higher-order thinking skills. The examination is designed around concepts rather than coding, making it suitable for students with different levels of familiarity with artificial intelligence.
The examination introduces students to the use of AI in everyday situations while encouraging them to understand how AI-based systems work. It also focuses on logical reasoning, interpretation, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Students studying in Classes 1 to 10 can participate in the examination. The competition is open to students from different countries and does not restrict participation to a particular school board.
The eligibility details are:
Students from Class 1 to Class 10 can participate.
Students from any country are eligible.
Students can participate through their school or register individually.
The examination is conducted online.
Class 1 students take the examination with parent or teacher assistance.
Students can participate through their schools or independently. The registration process is available for eligible students who want to appear for the online examination.
Schools that participate in Unicus Olympiads receive registration materials and prospectuses from the organisation. A school that has not yet enrolled can contact Unicus Olympiads at info@unicusolympiads.com to obtain the relevant information.
Participating schools are advised to submit their completed registration forms at least one month before the examination date. School-based registration allows multiple students to participate together through their institution.
Students can register individually if their school does not conduct the Olympiad. They need to complete the registration form and submit the required details through the designated portal.
For the online examination, individual participants need a laptop or desktop, a stable internet connection, and a webcam. Mobile phones cannot be used to take the examination. Since the test is conducted in a proctored environment, students should ensure that their webcam is functional before the examination.
The Unicus Artificial Intelligence Olympiad exam has two sections. The Classic Section contains questions based on practical applications of artificial intelligence, whereas the Scholar Section includes Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based questions.

The Classic Section carries 1 mark for every question, while each question in the Scholar Section carries 2 marks.
The syllabus introduces students to artificial intelligence through concepts that are appropriate for their grade level. It covers foundational AI ideas as well as logical thinking and practical applications.
The syllabus is designed to help students understand AI without making coding a central requirement. The topics focus on how artificial intelligence works and how it is used in real-world situations.
Broad areas assessed include:
Basic artificial intelligence concepts
AI terminology and examples
Logical thinking
Data interpretation
Pattern identification
Real-world applications of AI
AI-based problem-solving
Decision-making and predictions
Practical applications of artificial intelligence
Higher-order thinking
Students should review the syllabus applicable to their class before beginning their preparation.
The marks assigned to students depend on their class and the section of the examination. Classic Section questions carry 1 mark each, while Scholar Section questions carry 2 marks each.

For students in Classes 2 to 10, ranking is determined using marks, time taken, and other applicable criteria. Since the examination can be conducted across different sessions with different question papers, session-wise ranks are normalised before final ranks are announced.
The ranking process follows these criteria:
The total marks obtained in the examination are considered first.
If two students have the same marks, the student who completes the examination in less time receives the higher rank.
If the result is still tied, the younger student according to the date of birth is ranked higher.
Ranks from different sessions are normalised before the final ranking is declared.
Students who have the same result after applying the applicable criteria receive the same rank.
The decision of the Academic Council is final in case of any issue related to ranking.
For Class 1, the examination is parent/teacher-assisted. No ranks or percentiles are declared for these participants.
The awards and recognition for UAIO participants depend on their class and performance in the examination.
The recognition categories include:
The overall top three participants in each subject from Grades 2 to 11 receive the Scholar's Trophy and Certificate of Excellence.
The top three participants from every school with more than 25 participants in a class receive a Gold Medal and Certificate of Excellence.
Participants in the overall top 10% or those securing a zonal rank of 10 or below receive a Gold Medal and Certificate of Excellence.
Participants in the top 25% receive a Certificate of Excellence.
Participants between the top 25% and 50% receive a digital Certificate of Appreciation. School-registered participants receive a hard copy.
The remaining participants receive a digital Certificate of Participation through the participant dashboard.
If a participant meets two or more award criteria, the higher applicable award is provided.
Class 1 students take part in a parent/teacher-assisted examination and do not receive ranks or percentiles.
Students scoring more than 60% receive a Certificate of Excellence and a Medal.
Other participants receive a digital Certificate of Participation through the participant dashboard.
Students should prepare their examination setup before the test begins. The important instructions include:
Use a laptop or desktop to appear for the examination.
Keep a working webcam available.
Ensure that the internet connection is stable.
Take the examination from a suitable environment.
Do not use a mobile phone for the examination.
The test is conducted online under supervision.
Class 1 students may receive parent or teacher assistance.
Complete the paper within the time assigned to your class.
Preparing for an AI Olympiad involves understanding concepts, practising logical questions, and learning how artificial intelligence is applied in everyday situations. Students can use sample papers, mock tests, practice questions, and answer keys to support their preparation.
Start by identifying the topics included for your class. Make a list of areas that you already understand and topics that require more practice.
Divide the syllabus into manageable sections and assign time to each topic. A topic-wise study plan can help you maintain consistency and avoid confusion during preparation.
Once you have covered the syllabus, solve sample papers to become familiar with the question format. Practising objective questions can also help you understand how AI concepts may be applied in different situations.
Mock tests provide an opportunity to practise under conditions similar to the actual examination. After completing a test, review your answers and identify the areas where you need further practice.
Use answer keys and explanations to analyse incorrect responses. Revisiting the concepts behind your mistakes can help improve accuracy and strengthen your understanding.
The result will be made available through the participant dashboard after the examination process is completed.
Students can use the dashboard to view their performance and applicable award or certificate details. For Classes 2 to 10, ranking will be determined according to the prescribed ranking criteria. Class 1 students will not receive ranks or percentiles.
The UAIO 2027 answer key is scheduled to be released on February 3 and February 4, 2027.
Students can use the answer key to compare their responses with the correct answers. Reviewing the responses can help students identify the concepts that need further practice.
