The Language Section evaluates students on language skills. The questions are designed around language elements relevant to the student's class.
The Reading Section assesses reading comprehension abilities and forms the second part of the examination.
The Unicus Global English Olympiad syllabus follows language elements from CBSE, ICSE, and other education boards within a common framework. The syllabus focuses on the language elements taught at the student's current class level.
For example, students appearing for Class 3 are assessed on the language elements associated with Class 3.
The examination also evaluates English through two broad areas:
Content Domain: Covers the subject areas targeted for assessment.
Cognitive Domain: Focuses on the thinking processes used while answering questions.
The cognitive domain includes:
Knowing: Recall of facts, basic concepts, and answers.
Applying: Using acquired knowledge in practical situations.
Reasoning: Analysing, synthesising, and evaluating information to form judgements or solve problems.
Students should understand the syllabus before preparing their study timetable.
The marking scheme varies by class group. The Language Section carries one mark per question, while questions in the Reading Section carry two marks each.

For KG and Class 1, the exam is parent/teacher-assisted. Therefore, ranks are not declared for these classes.
For students from Grades 2 to 10, rankings are determined using the following criteria:
Total marks obtained in the examination.
If there is a tie, the student who completes the test in less time is ranked higher.
If the tie continues, the younger student, based on date of birth, is ranked higher.
Since exams can be conducted on different days and sessions with different question paper sets, final rankings are based on normalisation across sessions.
If two or more students have the same result under the criteria, they receive the same rank.
In case of any confusion, the decision of the Academic Council is final and binding.
No ranks or percentiles are declared for KG and Class 1 because these exams are parent/teacher-assisted. Students scoring more than 60% receive a Certificate of Excellence and Medal. All participants also receive a digital Certificate of Participation.
The awards for UGEO participants vary according to the class group and performance.
Overall top 3 participants in each subject receive a Scholar's Trophy and Certificate of Excellence.
Top 3 participants from every school with more than 25 participants in a class receive a Gold Medal and Certificate of Excellence.
