The Unicus Global Xtempore Olympiad (UGXO) is an international online competition designed to help students develop communication, creativity, confidence, and spontaneous speaking skills. It is open to students from KG to Class 10.
The Unicus Global Xtempore Olympiad 2027 follows a three-round format. Students receive topics through different activities in each round and must organise their thoughts and deliver a spoken response within the given time. For KG and Class 1, the examination is parent/teacher-assisted.
UGXO focuses on students' ability to think quickly and express their ideas clearly. Instead of a conventional written question paper, the examination uses three speaking rounds with different methods of selecting topics.

Students from KG to Class 10 can participate in the examination. The Olympiad accepts students from CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, and students studying in other countries.
The eligibility requirements include:
Students from KG to Class 10 can participate.
Students from different countries are eligible.
Students from CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, and other educational boards can participate.
Students can register through their school or as individual participants.
KG and Class 1 students take part with parent or teacher assistance.

Students can participate in UGXO through their school or register independently. Both options allow eligible students to take the examination online.
Schools registered with Unicus Olympiads receive brochures containing the registration forms. Schools that are not registered can request the brochure by contacting info@unicusolympiads.com.
Participating schools need to complete and return the registration forms at least one month before the final examination. This allows schools to complete the registration process for their students before the examination.
Students whose schools do not conduct Olympiads can register independently. They need to fill in the registration form with the required details through the designated portal.
The examination is conducted online using a laptop or desktop with a stable internet connection and webcam. Mobile devices cannot be used for the examination. Since the test is proctored, a working webcam is compulsory. Individual participants have to appear for the examination from home.
The Unicus Global Xtempore Olympiad exam is divided into three rounds. Each round uses a different method to provide the speaking topic.

The three rounds assess students through spontaneous responses rather than conventional written questions.
The Unicus Xtempore Olympiad syllabus is organised around the themes used in the three speaking rounds. The topics are designed to be age-appropriate for students across the eligible classes.
Students should review the syllabus before beginning their preparation to understand the themes that may be used during the examination.
The three rounds are:
Warm-Up Round: Students spin a wheel to receive the topic.
Creative Round: Students pick a card to reveal a surprise prompt.
X-Factor Round: Students roll a dice to receive the topic.
The syllabus focuses on helping students organise their thoughts and communicate ideas clearly within a limited preparation and speaking time.
UGXO carries a total of 100 marks across its three rounds. Each round has a different weightage.

The time available to think and speak also changes from one round to another. Students should therefore practise preparing a response quickly and expressing it within the allotted speaking time.
The source information provided for UGXO indicates that ranking criteria are applicable to participants in Grades 2 to 10. The ranking process considers the examination performance according to the applicable Unicus Olympiads criteria.
The stated criteria are:
Total marks obtained in the examination are considered first.
If students have the same marks, the student completing the examination in less time is ranked higher.
If the tie continues, the younger student according to the date of birth is ranked higher.
Since examinations may take place across different sessions with different question sets, ranks are normalised across sessions before final ranks are announced.
Students with the same result after applying the criteria may receive the same rank.
The Academic Council's decision is final in case of any ranking-related issue.
For KG and Class 1, the examination is parent/teacher-assisted. No ranks or percentiles are declared for these participants.
UGXO offers different forms of recognition based on the participant's class and performance.
The applicable awards include:
The overall top three participants in each subject from Grades 2 to 11 receive the Scholar's Trophy and Certificate of Excellence.
The top three participants from every school with more than 25 participants in a class receive a Gold Medal and Certificate of Excellence.
Participants in the overall top 10% or those with a zonal rank of 10 or below receive a Gold Medal and Certificate of Excellence.
Participants in the top 25% receive a Certificate of Excellence.
Participants between the top 25% and 50% receive a digital Certificate of Appreciation. School-registered participants receive a hard copy.
The remaining participants receive a digital Certificate of Participation through the participant dashboard.
If a participant satisfies more than one award criterion, the higher applicable award is provided.
KG and Class 1 participants take the examination with parent or teacher assistance and do not receive ranks or percentiles.
Participants scoring more than 60% receive a Certificate of Excellence and a Medal.
Other participants receive a digital Certificate of Participation through the participant dashboard.
Students should prepare their equipment and examination environment before the test. Important instructions include:
Use a laptop or desktop for the examination.
Keep a working webcam ready.
Ensure a stable internet connection.
Take the examination from home when participating individually.
Do not use a mobile device for the examination.
The online examination is proctored.
KG and Class 1 students can receive parent or teacher assistance.
Be prepared to think and speak within the time provided for each round.
UGXO preparation is different from that of a conventional written Olympiad. Students need to practise organising ideas quickly and speaking clearly on a given topic.
Choose simple topics from everyday life and speak about each one for one to three minutes. This can help you become more comfortable with spontaneous speaking.
Record your practice speeches and listen to them afterwards. This allows you to notice areas related to clarity, pace, structure, and delivery that may need improvement.
The examination provides limited thinking and speaking time in each round. Practise forming an idea quickly and presenting it within the allotted duration.
Students can use the free demo to become familiar with the format of the Xtempore Olympiad. Understanding how the rounds work can make practice more focused.
Go through the themes included in the syllabus and practise speaking on different types of topics. Regular practice can help students become more comfortable with unexpected prompts.
The result is made available through the participant dashboard after the examination process is completed.
Students can use the dashboard to view their performance and applicable award or certificate information. Participants in KG and Class 1 do not receive ranks or percentiles.
The answer key for UGXO 2027 is scheduled to be released on February 5 and February 6, 2027.
Students can use the available information after the examination to review their performance and understand their results.
