The ranking process for Classes 2 to 11 follows multiple criteria. Total marks are considered first, followed by the time taken to complete the examination if students have equal marks.
The ranking rules are as follows:
The candidate's total marks are considered first.
In case of equal marks, the candidate who finishes the examination in less time gets the higher rank.
If the result remains tied, the younger candidate according to the date of birth is ranked higher.
Rankings from different examination sessions are normalised before the final ranks are declared.
Students with the same result after applying the applicable criteria may receive the same rank.
The Academic Council has the final authority in matters related to ranking.
UGKO provides certificates, medals, and trophies according to the applicable performance criteria.
The recognition categories include:
The overall top three participants in each subject from Grades 2 to 11 receive the Scholar's Trophy and Certificate of Excellence.
The top three participants from each school with more than 25 participants in a class receive a Gold Medal and Certificate of Excellence.
Students securing a position within the top 10% overall or a zonal rank of 10 or below receive a Gold Medal and Certificate of Excellence.
Students falling within the top 25% receive a Certificate of Excellence.
Students ranked between the top 25% and 50% receive a digital Certificate of Appreciation. School participants receive a hard copy.
Other participants receive a digital Certificate of Participation.
When a student qualifies for more than one award category, the higher applicable award is provided.
Students should arrange their device and examination setup before the test begins. The important instructions include:
Appear for the test using a laptop or desktop.
Keep a working webcam ready.
Use a stable internet connection.
Choose an appropriate and quiet place for the examination.
Do not use a mobile phone for the test.
The examination is conducted online under supervision.
Finish the paper within the time assigned to your class.
UGKO preparation involves regular revision and practice across different areas of general awareness. Students can use sample papers, previous year papers, mock tests, quizzes, and answer keys as part of their preparation.
Start by identifying the topics prescribed for your class. This gives you a clear idea of the areas you need to cover and helps you divide your preparation time accordingly.
Create a study timetable that includes different general knowledge topics. Consistent revision can make it easier to retain information and avoid last-minute preparation.
Solving sample and previous year papers gives you practice with objective-type questions. It also helps you become comfortable with answering questions within a fixed time.
Include mock tests in your preparation routine to assess your progress. Once a test is complete, go through the questions you answered incorrectly and revise those topics.
General knowledge quizzes provide regular practice across different subject areas. They can help you become familiar with both factual and application-oriented questions.
The UGKO result will be made available through the participant dashboard after the examination process is completed.
Students can use the dashboard to view their examination performance along with the applicable award or certificate details. The ranks for Classes 2 to 11 will be determined according to the prescribed ranking criteria.
The answer key for UGKO 2027 is scheduled to be released on July 19 and July 20, 2027.
Students can use the answer key to match their responses with the official answers and review their performance. It can also help identify topics that need additional revision.
