Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is India’s biggest student innovation program. It is started by the Ministry of Education along with the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and AICTE. This program supports the goal of building a developed India by 2047 by promoting innovation and self-reliance right from the ground up.

What is Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025?

Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is a country-wide innovation contest for students in grades 6 to 12. It aims to inspire creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills. Organized by AIM, NITI Aayog, and the Ministry of Education, it encourages young students to create real solutions that support India’s goal of becoming a developed nation.

Today, October 11, 2025, is the last day to register. Schools can sign up several teams on the official websites vbb.mic.gov.in or schoolinnovationmarathon.org/registration. Each team should have 3 to 5 students and a teacher or mentor to guide them.

Important Dates for Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon live event will be held on October 13, 2025, and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will be livestreamed nationwide, marking the official start of the Buildathon.

Eligibility Criteria for Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025

A total of 1,110 teams will be awarded at the district, state, and national levels. Apart from monetary rewards, top teams will gain mentorship and opportunities to collaborate with innovation hubs.

Eligibility Criteria for this initiative are provided below-

• Students must be from Class 6 to 12

• Each team should have 3 to 5 members

• Participation must be through a registered school

• Teachers must validate and support student registration

Students can register online through the official Viksit Bharat Buildathon website. Follow these steps to apply:

2. Click on “Register Now” under the Buildathon 2025 tab

3. Fill in team and school details

4. Choose a theme and upload the required details

5. Submit the form to get your unique Team ID

Themes / Problem Statements in Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025

The competition revolves around four national themes, each designed to promote innovation and sustainability.

Teams must select one theme, identify a real-world challenge, and present an innovative solution addressing it.

Submission Guidelines And Format for Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025

Each team must submit a 2–5 minute video explaining:

• The problem being solved

• Their innovation or prototype

• How it works

• Its potential social and economic impact

Submissions must be uploaded on the official portal between October 13 and October 31, 2025.

Entries will be judged by experts based on the following parameters:

• Innovation and originality

• Feasibility and sustainability

• Impact on society

• Clarity and presentation

Shortlisted teams will be recognised at district, state, and national levels.

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 carries a total prize pool of Rs. 1 crore, distributed as follows:

Winners will also receive corporate mentorship and long-term incubation support to further their projects.

The initiative is jointly supported by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and the Ministry of Education. Their role is to encourage student-led innovation and create pathways for developing solutions aligned with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
