Station Master Syllabus 2026: The Railway Board has announced separate recruitment for the Station Master post from the 2026 recruitment cycle onwards. According to Railway Board letter No. 2025/E(RRB)/25/16 dated 7 October 2026, the revised selection process includes a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), document verification and medical examination. The Station Master CBT carries 100 marks and has a duration of 120 minutes. Station Master Syllabus 2026: Overview

The Railway Board has specified a revised syllabus for the separate Station Master recruitment cycle beginning in 2026. The examination assesses candidates through Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Logical Capability and Mental Reasoning.

The revised syllabus will be operationalised for the Station Master CEN from the 2026 recruitment cycle. Candidates should refer to the applicable recruitment notification for the final examination instructions.

Station Master New Exam Pattern 2026

The Station Master exam pattern consists of a single-stage CBT followed by CBAT. Unlike the earlier pattern described on this page, the revised Railway Board guidelines do not specify separate CBT-1 and CBT-2 examinations for this recruitment process.

Station Master CBT Exam Pattern 2026

The CBT comprises three main components: Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability; Logical Capability; and Mental Reasoning. Data Analysis and Interpretation forms a separate subsection within the first component.

Station Master Syllabus 2026: Section-Wise Marks

The Railway Board's Annexure A specifies the following distribution of marks for the Station Master CBT.

Candidates should give appropriate attention to all three components. Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability accounts for 60 marks, while Logical Capability and Mental Reasoning account for 20 marks each.

Negative marking: The Railway Board letter dated 7 October 2026 does not specify the negative-marking rule. Candidates should check the detailed recruitment notification for confirmation before making an exam strategy.

Station Master New Syllabus 2026: Subject-Wise Topics

The Station Master new syllabus 2026 is divided into three main components, with specific topics listed under each section in Annexure A of the Railway Board notice. Candidates should prepare according to these revised topics instead of relying only on the older NTPC syllabus.

Data Analysis and Interpretation carries 30 marks under the Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability component. It focuses on analysing information presented in different formats and drawing logical inferences from the available data.

5. Mental Reasoning Syllabus (20 Marks)

Mental Reasoning carries 20 marks in the revised Station Master CBT. It assesses pattern recognition, logical relationships and the ability to solve arrangement-based problems.

• Analogy: Identifying relationships between two items and applying the same relationship to another pair.

• Series Completion: Identifying the pattern in a sequence of numbers and predicting the next term.

• Coding-Decoding: Solving coding and decoding questions.

• Arrangement-Based Problems: Solving problems involving the arrangement of people, items or information.

Candidates should practise each question type and focus on accuracy, logical thinking and time management.

How to Prepare for the Station Master Exam 2026?

Candidates preparing for the separate Station Master recruitment should base their study plan on the revised syllabus and the 100-mark CBT pattern.

1. Understand the revised syllabus: Divide the syllabus into Basic Science and Mathematics, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Logical Capability and Mental Reasoning.

2. Practise mathematics and basic science: Revise formulas and practise questions on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, measurements, energy, electricity and mechanics.

3. Focus on data interpretation: Practise tables, graphs, pie charts, scatter plots, Venn diagrams and data-sufficiency questions.

4. Strengthen logical reasoning: Solve questions on binary logic, syllogisms, blood relations, clocks, calendars and logic-based puzzles.
