CBSE Exam 2025: Instructions for Schools

Below we have provided some instructions related to the CBSE Board Exam 2025 Attendance Guidelines -
  • Parents and students need to be made aware of the required 75% attendance standard and the possible repercussions for not fulfilling it.
  • Students who are on leave due to a medical emergency must apply for the leave as soon as possible to the school, providing a valid medical prescription, certificate, etc. Absence from the school without a written request will be regarded as unauthorised.
  • Students who experience a medical emergency must apply for leave as soon as possible and provide official medical records. For other situations, students are required to notify the school in writing and with an adequate explanation for their absence. If a student is absent from school without a formal leave record during a sudden inspection by the CBSE, it will be assumed that they are not attending regularly, and the CBSE will not permit them to sit for the board exams.
  • Schools have to have correct attendance records and monitor them on a regular basis. Daily updates, signatures from the class instructor and the appropriate school administration, and easy access for CBSE inspection are all requirements for attendance registers.
  • The school should send a written notification to the parents if a student misses school frequently or does not meet the attendance requirement. The notification should emphasise the need for regular attendance and warn the parents that noncompliance could result in the student's exclusion from the board exams.
  • To confirm student attendance records, the Board may carry out unannounced inspections. During these inspections, the school may be subject to severe consequences, such as disaffiliation, if it is discovered that the records are lacking or that it is obvious that students have not been attending on a regular basis. Students might not be allowed to take the board exams.
  • Once the school has reported the incidents of low attendance to the CBSE, no modifications to the attendance records will be allowed.

No Changes Allowed After Submission

CBSE made it clear that when schools file proof of low attendance, modifications are not permitted. The academic session's first day of classes' records will serve as the basis for calculating attendance. In addition, the Board has given schools a Proforma to use when submitting such situations, along with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for approving the absences.
