SSC CGL Application Form 2026 link is live, and the process has been started from May 21 to June 22, 2026. The applications are accepted only online by accessing the commission’s portal. 

1. One-Time Registration (OTR): Go to SSC portal. Fill in your name, parents' names, and schooling details to make a new OTR account. If a person has an old registration from the previous website, it will not work here.

2. Filling the Form: Log in with the new credentials and click on the CGL 2026 application link.

3. Live Photo Capture: This is a fresh rule. Candidates cannot upload an old passport photo. They have to stand in front of a webcam or mobile camera to capture a clear live photo with a simple background. Do not wear any caps, masks, or spectacles during this step.

4. Signature: Upload a clear digital scan of your signature.

5. Application Fee: The standard application fee is ₹100 (one hundred rupees). Candidates can pay this fee online using net banking, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay credit or debit cards, or through UPI payment modes.

6. Fee Exemptions: Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation do not have to pay any application fee.

SSC CGL 2026 Eligibility has been mentioned in the official notification for the candidates. They can meet the minimum eligibility to apply online. 

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan.

Age Limit (As of August 1, 2026)

The minimum SSC CGL Age Limit requirement is generally 18 years, and the maximum ranges up to 27, 30, or 32 years depending on the specific job post.

• For 18-27 years posts: Born between August 2, 1999, and August 1, 2008.

• For 20-30 years posts: Born between August 2, 1996, and August 1, 2006.

• Government guidelines also offer age relaxation periods for reserved categories, like 5 additional years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.

Educational Qualification

• Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer: Must possess a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university. Having a degree in Commerce or a Chartered Accountant tag is an extra benefit.

• Junior Statistical Officer: A graduate degree with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at the 12th standard level, or a degree with Statistics as a main subject.

• All Other Regular Posts: A simple Bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognised college.

SSC CGL 2026 Selection Process

SSC CGL 2026 Selection Process comprises of the two rounds of the evaluation process, including the Tier I and Tier II examinations. 

• Tier-I Examination: This is a preliminary computer-based screening test. It has multiple-choice questions on Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English, and General Awareness. The marks scored here are used to select candidates for the next round.

• Tier-II Examination: This is the most crucial phase because the final selection list ranks depend solely on Tier-II marks. It contains Paper-I, which is mandatory for every single post. Paper I has mathematical questions, English comprehension, computer awareness, and a mandatory data entry typing skill test. Specialist positions like JSO or AAO require candidates to give extra papers named Paper-II or Paper-III.

SSC CGL Salary 2026

SSC CGL Salary 2026, depending on the profile fo the candidates have been provided. 

• Pay Level 8 (₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100): For AAO posts. This is the highest entry pay scale in this examination.

• Pay Level 7 (₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400): For popular executive posts like Income Tax Inspector, Central Excise Inspector, and Assistant Section Officer.

• Pay Level 6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400): For positions like Sub-Inspector in NIA, Divisional Accountant, and Junior Statistical Officer.

• Pay Level 5 (₹29,200 to ₹92,300): Covers Auditor and Accountant jobs in different central departments.

• Pay Level 4 (₹25,500 to ₹81,100): Includes Postal Assistants, Tax Assistants, and Senior Secretariat Assistants.
