Khelo India Youth Games 2025: The 7th edition of India’s biggest youth sports event ended successfully in Bihar. This event brought together thousands of young players from all over the country. The Khelo India Youth Games 2025 were held from 4th May to 15th May 2025. For the first time, Bihar hosted the games. The events took place in five cities: Patna, Rajgir, Begusarai, Gaya, and Bhagalpur. Some big events like gymnastics, shooting, and cycling were held in New Delhi. This year’s mascot was “Gajasimha”.The theme for 2025 was “Khel se Desh, Khel se Vikas” (Nation through Sports, Development through Sports).
More than 10,000 people, including players, coaches, and staff, from 28 states and 8 union territories, took part in the games. There were competitions in 27 sports, including Olympic sports and Indian traditional sports like mallakhamb, yogasana, and kho kho. Esports was shown as a demo sport for the first time. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (Government of India), the Government of Bihar, Sports Authority of India (SAI), and many sports groups worked together to organize the event.
The sports included athletics, hockey, wrestling, kabaddi, table tennis, shooting, swimming, archery, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, fencing, football, gatka, gymnastics, judo, kalaripayattu, kho kho, mallakhamb, sepak takraw, tennis, thang-ta, volleyball, weightlifting, yogasana, and rugby. The games used a team championship format. This means states and union territories were ranked based on their total medals.
Maharashtra topped the medal tally at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 with 158 medals, followed by Haryana and Rajasthan. The rankings were based on the total number of gold, silver, and bronze medals won by each state and union territory.

The closing event was held at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna. Important guests like the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports and Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister attended. There were cultural shows and colorful celebrations to mark the end of the games.
