Q 1. What is IELTS?

Ans. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an internationally recognized and standard English language test used to check non-native English speakers' English language skills in preparation for study abroad or migration to an English-speaking nation.

Ans. The purpose of the IELTS Academic is to test if English proficiency meets the requirements of international academics. The IELTS General is an exam that sets if their language proficiency is sufficient for social and professional environments.

Ans. The IELTS Academic exam is often seen to be more difficult than the IELTS General exam . The General exam evaluates your ability to perform well in a general English-speaking environment.

Q 4. Which IELTS test should I take?

Ans. It is required that students take the IELTS Academic test if they are moving for professional registration or study an undergraduate or graduate degree in an English-speaking setting. Students might choose to take the IELTS General exam if they are applying for secondary training programs, job experience, or migration to an English-speaking nation.

Q 5. How long does the IELTS exam take, and what is its format?

Ans. There are two ways to take the IELTS exam: offline ( IELTS paper-based test ) and online ( IELTS computer-delivered test ). For both types, the format is the same. Academic and general both include the same speaking and listening sections, different writing and reading sections. Two hours and forty-five minutes are given to finish the exam.

Three months before the test date, the new date must be rescheduled. The student will be required to pay an administrative fee to begin the rescheduling process.

Taking the IELTS Exam FAQs

Q 1. When can I take the IELTS test?

Ans. IELTS exams are generally available for students to take any time they'd like. Finding an available exam day and time to reserve only requires getting in contact with the IELTS exam officials. Students are prepared to take the test after completing the registration process. IELTS is offered four times a month, subject to local demand, on 48 scheduled occasions per year.

Q 2. How long does the IELTS exam take?

Ans. The IELTS exam takes about two hours and forty-five minutes to finish. The speaking section may have a different timetable than the reading, writing, and listening sections, which have set schedules. Each section Reading and Writing takes one hour or sixty minutes. This 30-minute exam is all about listening. The speaking section often lasts between eleven and fourteen minutes, neither the interview nor the speaking section have a set duration.

Ans. Your identity (passport or national identification card) will be checked once you arrive at the exam location. You will be requested to submit any devices or bags you have with you, as well as take Test Day Photography before being permitted to enter the exam center. It might take up to 30 minutes to complete any of these processes. Thus, it is advised that you arrive at the exam center at least an hour ahead of schedule.

Ans. No, there isn't a pause between the exams for writing and reading. The exam's Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are always finished one after the other, without a pause in between.

Q 9. Can I bring food and drink during my IELTS exam?

Ans. Water can only be brought in clear bottles that have had the labels removed. There are no more snacks or beverages allowed in the exam centre. Students who wish to be excluded from the exam due to medical necessity must check the appropriate box during test registration and provide original, paper-based health information before the test date.

Re-taking the IELTS Exam FAQs

Q 1. Will I be able to retake the IELTS exam?

Ans. Yes, students can retake the IELTS exam as many as necessary. Students can retake the IELTS exam whenever it's convenient for them, even if their band score is respectable and still stands. Any results are acceptable. There used to be a restriction on taking the IELTS exam more than once within a set amount of time, but that is no longer the case. Students are free to retake the exam as often as they choose. Every exam has a registration requirement, and taking the exam more than once does not result in a refund or discount.

Q 2. When can I take the IELTS exam again?

Ans. Students can retake the IELTS exam at any time. IELTS retake restrictions of ninety days have been removed allowing students to retake the exam whenever they choose. Please be aware that students will still need to declare on the application form whether or not they have already taken the IELTS exam. This data will only be used for monitoring, it will not be included on the Test Report Form (TRF).

Q 3. Will my new score affect my previous score on the IELTS?

Ans. No, the new IELTS Band score will not be affected by the previous one. If you are taking the IELTS test for the second or third time, you don't need to worry about your previous result. The result will be calculated as if it were the first time taking the IELTS. You won't find any reference to the previous score on the Report Form (results).

Q 4. Can I retake the reading section of the IELTS only if my performance on the other components is satisfactory?

Ans. No, individual modules or components cannot be retaken. Students will need to retake all four exam sections if they want to raise the result.

Q 5. Will my previous exam result become invalid if I retake the IELTS test?

Ans. No, you can use any of these two test results (obviously the better one) and they will both be valid for two years from the day you took the exam. But you can never mix the results of different exams.

IELTS Exam FAQs for Result

Q 1. What is the IELTS pass/fail result?

Ans. The IELTS test does not include a "pass" or "fail" option. The IELTS results happen using a nine-band scale. IELTS offers a profile score for each of the four language skills speaking, reading, writing, and listening in addition to the overall language ability score. Students will receive a report of the results, called the Test Report Form if they take the IELTS exam and pass it.

Q 2. How are the tests marked?

Ans. IELTS tests and reports exam results consistently using a 9-band scoring system. A band score that varies from one to nine is given to students for each of the following: speaking, listening, reading, writing, and speaking. An IELTS examiner has been given to review the answers and tests according to the band score requirements.

Q 3. Does giving a wrong answer on the IELTS result in a mark deduction?

Ans. No, students won't lose marks for providing incorrect answers on the IELTS exam. It is advised that students try to answer every question on the IELTS exam and make educated guesses for those they are unsure of.

Q 4. When will I get my IELTS result?

Ans. Thirteen calendar days following the exam, the IELTS exam centre will provide the results. The results may be mailed to students or available for pick-up on the thirteenth day at certain exam centres. Students will only receive one copy of the IELTS Test Report Form , so keep it safe somewhere.

Q 5. Can I check my results online?

Ans. Yes, Thirteen days following the written exam day, the test results are available online. See your online results by clicking this link. The system won't show results for more than 40 days following the day students take the exam, as results and performance comments will only be available for 40 days following the exam's date.

Q 6. Is it possible for me to get my test results via fax, email, or phone?

Ans. No, this facility is not available in many exam centers. 13 days following the exam day, students may get their results online or have them sent to the address provided when registering for the IELTS via mail or courier. Students could receive an SMS from some exam centres with the results. Students will be able to pick up the certificate from the exam centre if, you write "Don't send" in the mail. It is advised that when students register for the exam, they consult with the exam centre about how to obtain their exam results.

Ans. Examinees register directly with each exam centre. Students may look for available dates and locations on the IELTS website, which also provides connections to specific exam centres.

Ans. Both follow the same process, at a certain place, only one type may be available.

Q 3. If required, is it possible for me to reschedule my registration?

Ans. Yes, five weeks before the exam date. Students must have a good cause, such as a significant disease, to cancel closer to exam day. Students will need to re-register for the exam and pay the entire registration fee.
