Preparing for JEE Main Paper 2 requires students to manage different areas such as Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing while balancing other academic responsibilities. For Priyanshi Kamdar, the preparation journey began with an interest in architecture and gradually developed into a focused approach towards the examination.
Priyanshi scored a 99.3 percentile and shared her preparation experience in a Physics Wallah Design & Architecture interview. From deciding how to divide her exam time to working on weaker areas and managing anxiety, her experience offers a closer look at how she approached JEE Main Paper 2.
Priyanshi’s interest in architecture started before her JEE preparation. She recalled watching videos of architects and their creations, which made her curious about creating designs herself.
“8th standard se mujhe na ye field mein interest tha and I used to watch like architect ke videos and what they've created... mujhe bhi ek din aisa kuch banana hai. ”
“11 standard se kiya tha like I took science and then fir I started preparing but fir mera jo major preparation tha wo last ke months mein hua tha.”
This interest encouraged Priyanshi to explore architecture more closely. She also mentioned following architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and studying their work. Her preparation formally began after she chose Science in Class 11, although she said her major preparation happened during the last few months.
As her preparation progressed, Priyanshi worked across Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing. She particularly enjoyed Mathematics and Aptitude, while she was less comfortable with General Physics.
For the examination, she decided her time division in advance and followed it during the paper.
“Maine ghar pe se decide kar liya tha ki mera aptitude jo rahega wo main starting ke aadhe ghante mein khatam kar dungi and wo ho gaya tha”
“Uske baad maine apna drawing start kiya and then drawing khatm hone ke baad maine end mein maths liya tha.”
This approach allowed her to complete Aptitude first, move to Drawing and keep Mathematics for the end. Priyanshi also highlighted that the right strategy can differ from person to person, depending on an individual’s confidence in different subjects.
While Priyanshi was confident in Mathematics, she identified Aptitude as an area that needed more attention. To practise it regularly, she used ChatGPT to generate questions based on NATA and JEE Paper 2.
“But I knew ki mera aptitude weak hai, so regularly I used to put a prompt in ChatGPT to generate 50 aptitude questions based on NATA and JEE Paper 2.”
She also recommended regular research for students looking to improve their general knowledge and understand architecture better.
“Aptitude mein thoda like GK improve karne ke liye regularly kuch na kuch aise search karte rehna chahiye.”
“Like regularly koi ek naye architect ko socho and then just research karo.”
During preparation, she continued to work on her weaker areas despite having limited time because of Boards and practicals.
“At that time also, like I used to focus majorly on my weakness ke jo human figures the I used to practice them, but utna time nahi mil raha tha and end mein because Boards and practicals wo sab bhi aa jaata hai, so I made sure ki main jis topic par hoon wo mera perfectly ho jaaye.”
Priyanshi was confident in drawing human figures, which is why she chose the alternative prompt (firecrackers) in the exam. However, since time was limited due to Boards and practicals, her focus was to ensure that whatever topic she prepared was done thoroughly.
Managing pressure was another part of Priyanshi’s preparation. With JEE Main Paper 2, Boards and practicals running alongside each other, she experienced the anxiety that can come with preparing for multiple academic responsibilities.
“Exam ke time pe it is like anxiety and sab kuch bahut aata hai but like you have to make sure ki you don’t panic.”
She used meditation as a way to stay calm before studying.
“Jabhi bhi padhne baithi thi uske 10 minutes pehle I used to meditate.”
Her experience also shaped her advice for students. According to Priyanshi, staying calm during the examination is particularly important because panic can affect the ability to generate ideas in the Drawing section.
Physics Wallah (PW) plays a key role in helping aspirants build a disciplined and result-oriented strategy for competitive examinations like JEE Main and Advanced. By combining organised academic learning with strategic guidance, PW enables students to strengthen their conceptual clarity, optimise study hours, and approach complex problem-solving with confidence.
Organised Course Curriculum: Offers subject-wise coverage designed to strengthen core fundamentals in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Exam-Oriented Practice: Delivers targeted question banks, mock tests, and previous years' paper analysis aligned with the latest NTA exam patterns.
Flexible Learning Formats: Provides interactive online lectures, detailed revision sessions, and recorded archives to help students learn at their own pace.
Continuous Self-Evaluation: Enables aspirants to track their academic progress, pinpoint weak topics, and improve speed and accuracy through regular assessments.
Guidance and Exam Mindset: Focuses on practical time management strategies and stress management techniques to keep students calm and composed during actual exam conditions.
For students preparing for the examination, Priyanshi’s advice centres on identifying weaknesses and working consistently on them.
“Agar tumhe pata hai ki tumhara ye part weak hai, then just try to work on that and ho jayega.”
She also advised students not to panic during the examination.
“You have to make sure ki you don't panic, because agar aise panic mein honge, toh drawing wala jo section hai usmein ideas bhi nahi aate.”
Her experience suggests that understanding weaker areas, practising them, and remaining calm can help students approach the exam more effectively. For students whose results may not match their expectations, Priyanshi offered a similar message: understand where improvement is needed and work on that area rather than giving up.
Priyanshi Kamdar’s journey shows how an early interest in architecture, focused practice, subject-wise planning and a calm approach can shape a student’s preparation. Her 99.3 percentile in JEE Main Paper 2 and the preparation experience she shared can offer practical lessons to aspirants preparing for the same path.
