Tie-Breaker Policy to Prepare CLAT Second Merit List 2025
If two or more candidates get the same marks in the CLAT entrance exam, then the merit list is prepared using the tie-breaking rule. It is explained below.
- If two or more candidates secure the same overall marks, the candidate with higher marks in the Legal Reasoning section of CLAT 2025 is ranked higher.
- If the tie persists, the older candidate (higher age) is given preference in the ranking.
- If the tie still remains unresolved, a computerised draw of lots is conducted to determine the final rank among the tied candidates.
Admission Process After Publication of CLAT Second Round Allotment List 2025
The CLAT seat allotment is provisional. Candidates who get shortlisted in the merit lists have to complete certain formalities to gain final admission to the colleges. The following are the major steps that have to be completed after the publication of the CLAT merit list 2025.
- Candidates have to choose either freeze, float, or exit options. Those who select freeze and float have to pay the confirmation fee of Rs 20,000. This fee will be adjusted against the university fee.
- Candidates who have been allotted seats at their preferred NLUs have to select the freeze option to confirm their seats. Such students will not be allowed for the next round of CLAT counselling.
- Candidates who did not get their first preference for NLU can select the “Float” option. By choosing this option, candidates accept the seat allotted to them by paying Rs 2000 as a confirmation fee, but keep themselves open for a higher preference seat if it becomes available in the next rounds. This improves the seat allotment preferences of the candidates without losing their current seat.
- Candidates who want to exit the counselling without taking admission can select the “Exit” option.
CLAT Second Round Cutoff 2025
The CLAT Second Round Cutoff 2025 represents the minimum marks or rank required for admission to various National Law Universities after the second allotment list is released. These cutoffs vary for each NLU and category, reflecting factors like exam difficulty, number of applicants, and seat availability. The consortium will announce the cutoff after the declaration of the merit list.
