What is the IIM CAP? - The IIMs offer admissions to their MBA/PGP courses after declaring the CAT result. During the IIM admission process, candidates are shortlisted based on their CAT exam scores, WAT/(PI performance, and other criteria such as academic history or work experience. However, the newer IIMs have initiated a Common Admission Process (CAP). This admission approach streamlines the selection process across participating IIMs, where one of the nine IIMs oversees this process in rotation.
For CAT admissions in 2023, IIM Udaipur conducted the IIM CAP. The announcement regarding the IIM CAP 2024 conducting body will be provided in January 2024. The IIMs independently conduct admissions for MBA/PGP programs between February and April. The final admission lists for all top IIMs and participating institutes in IIM CAP are released in May every year. IIM CAP, also known as the Common Admission Process, is a common selection process designed for candidates eligible for admission to the nine new IIMs. It streamlines the process by requiring eligible candidates to undergo a single WAT-PI round. This means that if a candidate wants to apply for new IIMs, they do not need to participate in the WAT-PI rounds for each institute. Instead, they only need to take part in the common WAT-PI round. For IIM CAP, participating IIMs forward the list of shortlisted candidates for the WAT-PI process to the institute overseeing CAP for the specific year. The CAP conducting institute administers the common WAT-PI round for all the participating IIMs. The admission parameters, CAT cut off , and their respective weightage are uniform for all institutes. The scores achieved by candidates in CAP are shared with individual institutes. Based on these scores, the nine IIMs establish their own merit lists of candidates selected for admission. IIM CAP 2024 Application Process
To apply for IIM CAP 2024, candidates should visit the conducting institute's website using their CAT 2023 login credentials. Follow these steps:- Visit the CAP conducting IIM's website.
- Look for the link related to IIM CAP 2024 and click on it.
- Go to the candidate login section.
- Proceed to candidate sign-in and enter the CAT registration ID, password, and provided captcha code.
- After the sign-in process, candidates can access the IIM CAP application form.
- Complete the CAP form by providing accurate details.
- Upload the necessary documents in the specified format.
- Click on the 'Submit' option to complete the CAP application process.

Crucial Documents for IIM CAP 2024 Application
During the IIM CAP application process, candidates need to submit a scanned copy of the following documents:- CAT 2023 scorecard
- Certificates for class 10 and class 12, along with a passing certificate
- Graduation certificate and marks card
- Photo identity card
- Photograph and signature (file size less than 100 KB)
- Professional work experience certificates
- Valid caste certificate
- For DAP/PwD applicants, issue the certificate according to the format provided on the CAT website.
- Income certificate in the format provided on the CAT website (applicable for EWS applicants).

IIM CAP 2024 Selection Procedure for WAT/PI
Understanding the selection criteria for CAP 2024 is crucial for prospective candidates. The initial stages of selection criteria are uniform across CAP participating IIMs. However, the final decision-making process and subsequent stages are decided by individual institutes. To participate in CAP 2024, candidates must follow the below-mentioned steps:Release of IIM Cut Off
Candidates need to meet the specified CAT 2023 cut-off percentile set by the individual IIMs they've applied for admission. The CAT cutoff percentiles are independently released by IIMs, and candidates should stay updated to ensure their eligibility for their preferred IIM.Shortlisting of Candidates
All the IIMs create and submit the list of shortlisted candidates to the CAP conducting institute. Every year, one of the 9 CAP participating IIMs is selected as the administering authority.Invitation to CAP 2024
Once the final list of candidates shortlisted for CAP is prepared by the CAP conducting body, eligible candidates receive an invitation to participate in the WAT/PI round.
