NMC Adopts New Logo: According to the reports, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently changed its logo. The image of Lord Vishnu's incarnation Dhanvantri, known as the god of Ayurveda in Puranic texts, has replaced the country's traditional emblem.

NMC Adopts New Logo: According to NMC officials, the new logo, which features a colored photograph of Dhanvantri in the center, has been in use for nearly a year. The previous black-and-white version had visibility issues, particularly in printouts, and was thus replaced with a more vibrant representation.
The modified logo has not avoided comparisons to the World Health Organization's (WHO) emblem, which combines the UN logo with a serpent and staff. Long used as symbols in medicine, the staff and serpent originate in the mythology of Asclepius, the ancient Greek god of healing. Interestingly, the NMC logo uses the word "Bharat" instead of "India" explicitly. The Indian Medical Association's Kerala chapter has voiced criticism of the new logo despite there having been no formal announcement about it.
Calls For Reversal and Criticism From The Medical Community
The Kerala branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the new logo, claiming that “ It does not reflect the values of the modern medical community. The association argues that the new emblem sends the wrong message and is contrary to the secular and scientific values of the organization. The IMA has called for the logo to be changed.” Dr. Sharad Kumar Aggarwal, the national president of the IMA, has stated that the issue will be discussed at a meeting on Sunday. A formal statement is expected to be issued after the meeting. In a related development, the Ministry of Health has renamed Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Point-of-sale (PoS) machines have been sent to all states and Union Territories requesting that this rebranding effort be implemented. The Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centers (AB-HWC) portal requires states to upload images of their redesigned primary health facilities. The redesigned AB-HWCs will also have a new tagline, "Arogyam Parmam Dhanam," which means "Health is the greatest wealth," as announced by the ministry.Check NEET UG Important Links
